I've been following the advice of the ladies here for the better part of a stwo months and I can already see the difference in my hair. I prepoo with a hot oil treatment (olive oil and a few drops of Aphogee Essential oils for hair), wash twice a week with CON green, Deep Condition with Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Conditioner, Co wash with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration (as needed), moisturize twice a day (after waking and before bed) and seal with Aphogee Essential oils for hair.

After two months of this my hair is thick and moist, but its gotten hard to manage. My last relaxer was in late July. I was trying to stretch all the way to October (bringing my relaxer total for the year to three) but I'm having trouble even combing through my hair. I work in a warehouse so I can wear a hat or wig without anyone caring, so the apperance of my hair really isn't an issue. But I'm worried about loosing my edges from the hat/wig.

Any other ladies with short hair having this problem? From the ladies who've been there before, is it time to relax?

First and foremost Welcome!!

When your hair gets hard to manage, try increasing the time of your conditioning treatments. When I start getting new growth I increase my conditioning time to atleast 30 minutes. I also use something like ORS replenishing conditioner which gives me more "slip" and managability. Also, when was the last time you clarified. Product build up can make hair hard to manage. As far as worring about your edges, have you tried rubbing a creamy moisturizer on then and using on of those soft headbands to keep your hair looking smooth. You can comb a little hair out for a bang and the headband will hide your edges but you will still look like you have some sort of style. At night, try massing your edges with a little castor oil or more moisturizer to keep them flexible and moist. I like to use ors olive oil cream or cantu growth cream on mine. Looking at the conditioners you use, I don't see any protein conditioners. Make sure you use a protein conditioner every now and then to keep your hair strong and protein will keep your hair accepting the moisture you give it. For gentle proteins I like nexxus keraphix, aubrey organics gpb conditioner, hask henna and placenta pack, motions silk protein and motions cpr.

I did my first stretch 2 months ago. I think the first stretch tells you how long you can go without perming before the breaking starts. If its getting hard to handle and you notice tangling when dry, then it's time to perm, texlax, or do whatever it is you do. My last stretch was a bad one, I ignored all the signs and I lost alot hair. Stretches are fine for reaching your goals, but don' ignore the signs, because it will set you back everytime.
