Hey ladies,

I'm trying to reach full armpit length by Dec. 31st.

Is it possible to get that much lenghth in 4 months?

Do you have any suggestions of things I can do to increase my growth?

I'm natural and I usually wear a 3/4 wig.

I haven't had a good trim (only dusting) in a bout 6 months so I know I'm going to need one, but I want to have some of my lenghth left.

yup, there are some that get about an inch of growth per month. I think I got that for the past 2 months but I don't know if that is my normal rate or just a spurt. i've been taking biotin and B50 supplements so that might have something to do with it too. I think the average is .5 inch per month.

Hair grows about 1/2 inch per month on average. So you may need a little longer than 4 months to get there- unless your hair grows faster than average. You could try growth aids (MTG, BT). Good luck :)

Totally OT: I  your hair!
Back on topic: It is possible but I think you would have to protect those ends like crazy!

You sure can while ingesting a lot of high protein.

I totally agree with this statement; It is definately possible. I upped my protein intake, by eating more chicken, fish, etc., and added some supplements. As a result, I got 2 inches in 2.5 months. (See siggy)

ETA: Keep in mind, though, that my growth did occur during the warm/hot summer months, which probably helped too.

I think its possible, my own goal is to get an inch a month from septemeber untill December so i can be APL by christmas ( i need about 3.5 inches) ....if i dont make it, it will have just been fun to try

Im going to

----Massage my scalp more
----Increase Biotin & MSM
----Drink more water
----Get more sleep
----Excercise more
----Use a stimulating & Sulfur containing growth aid
----Really really take care of my ends & hair with lots of moisture
----& pray!

This is my same goal except I need like 2.5 to 3.0 inches. My daily diet has also been warped so I need to get back on track with that also. I'm officially on the road to APL in December 07.

Yes you can!! :yep: I just noticed that my hair grows an inch a month in the back and middle, and 1/2 inch on the top and sides (I always thought it was 1/2 in all over until I actually measured). So again, my answer is yes.

Hey girl its even possible to get 5-6inches in 4months but you then have to make sacrifices such as no heat, baggy the hair often, only protective styles, no hair out, cond washes only, protein and sulfur diet, hair vits, minoval, huil masketi, indian oils, whale sperm oil, massages, wgho, mtg, frenchees, spirulina, nettle, burdock, castor oil, almond oil, freeda biotin 10mg,viviscal, protein shakes, nature made super b complex,foti.....there are so many things that work topically for instance if u want to regrow a chewed up hairline u could opt for nioxin follicle booster, minoval, frenchees or ors. I had success with a lot of stuff and now on keep my hair braided and will go back to what works oh I forgot msm. Usually hair grows an average of 6inches but u can extend the growth phase with msm and foti. My regular growth with nothing is 1/4inch with vits and topicals 1.5 sometimes 2 when I avoid the heat. I have to go back to drastic.its feasible but u have to consume great whole food like salmon seeweed garlic onions spinach eggs....almonds apples and cover and protect ends and hair cause the air dry the hair out

Hey Ekomba - your hair growth is an inspiration! :yep:

I think it can be done, but you have to be EXTREME with your routine! Many are not willing to scarfice style for retained growth but it can be done! Remeber to protect those ends!

Good luck

lol thanks WhipEffectz!!!!join anytime girl. And Curlidiva you so right it can be done but the problem is we are not willing to sacrifice. and lately i used too much heat while at the beginning i did a year with no heat, no poo and the hair always covered. But i did slip and wear my hair out everyday forgetting that air dries the hair out. Just by experience and watching my hair strives while it was in protective styles (braided styles like cornrows under weaves work better for me but buns are excellent as well), baggy method, twinlab amino fuel and many many things like very low to no manipulation and letting the hair do its thing while it thrives covered coupled with an excellent diet rich in sulfur, protein and aminos and moisturizing the hair, vits will make your hair thrive overnight!!!!!!!! BUT IT DOES TAKE WORK LIKE ARE WE WILLING TO HIDE OUR HAIR FOR A WHILE. IT was hard for me cause lately i just wanted to enjoy my hair and left it out for a long time and broke my ends:wallbash:so i m back to what works i m so glad its the fall season and winter coming, for me it will be just weaves and wigs with cornrows, back to baggy method, pills, excellent diet cause i did slip and i know what my hair is capable so back to the lab lol but you have to find the right measure so you still look good so for me braids and weaves or even wigs will be the answer. I need to get my stash back and keep with a winning formula cause it does works:yep:

I agree I think it is totally possible.

I got a great amount of growth (about 3/4 inch in some places - 1 inch in others) in 4 weeks in braids while doing scalp massaged with Lenzis request oil.

It was enough for others to notice, too.

I totally think it is possible.

thank-you hothair!!

so savvy sistah make sure you give us an update in dec and let us know how it worked for you and what you did to get there!! happy growing :)

I wanted to post a thread about this, but I thught everyone would think I was crazy. i grew 1 1/2 inches of new growth in 7 weeks. I was kind of lazy 2 months ago and got my relaxer done at the salon. She did not telax my new growth, believe me when I say she straightened it. I'm not sure what I did to get such a growth spurt, but it is possible. :look:

Yeah it is possible. I believe all you have to do, well what I do to get an inch is take my multi-vitaming (1 pill) and 2 Ultra Nourish hair vitamins about 5 times a week plus MTG everyday and I get like an inch at least.

I have braids too. So I just moisturize when they get dry and am good to go.:yep:

I TTA Whipeffectz!

I don't like meat and only eat chicken occasionally. But when I started eating cottage cheese, which has 24% of the protein you need in a day in only half a cup, my hair growth took off. I mean, I had to shave three times over four days to stay smooth and I can usually go a week without regrowth.

Savvy Sis, yes it is possible. All that I could have said has already been said. Just be dilligent, with the methods you choose, until Dec. The only way you can find out how much you can enhance your growth above normal, is to work it! :)

Some people don't enjoy the taste but I really love it with jello or jello/fruit. And if you get the fat free kind (which taste the exact same) you're still getting all the protein without the fat. Surprisingly, it has very little calcium.

Thanks Ladies!

This is alot of good information! And it's also realistic.

I'm going to blow dry my hair tomorrow so I can track my progress.

I'm putting together a plan of action right now.

I think when you want to have healthy hair you do need a lifestyle

change. Because I was thinking that if I eat right, take vitamins and keep

heat off my hair that's really only the beginning. I need to exercise, get

adequate amounts of rest, get rid of the stress and just have patience.

So I'm working on a plan that will benefit my total health.

Thanks again!

I actually love cottage cheese & pineapples, but I always seem to forget it when grocery shopping. I'm going to try the fat free kind this weekend!

I love it with fresh berries, applesauce, fruitcocktail, or salsa, yum!:lick:
