Jennifer was one of my first hair inspirations. I was one of those women that because they had 4a/b hair thought there was no way I could ever do a long term stretch, but I knew that's what my hair and scalp really needed. I started with 8wks then 12wks then 16wks....then I saw her album. I was toying with the idea and my mother told me "do it, but I guarantee you won't be able to handle your real hair". Curiosity got me and I snapped and took the plunge and went 6 months without a relaxer, frequently visiting her album for motivation. Honestly, the most challenging part of the experience was seeing my real texture for the first time (since early childhood). I was hoping to get soft, kinky, cottony textured newgrowth....NO. I found myself gawking in the mirror at course, patternless, wirey new growth, saying to myself "and I want to grow MORE of this!??" But alas came relaxer time and the results were well worth it.

Just thought I'd take the opportunity to officially give her props for inspiring to make it through one of the more challenging times of my journey. Not only in the end did I gain 3 inches of healthy hair but also acceptance. My hair will never be soft, shiny, hang or swing without heat help but this is how God made it come out of my scalp so it must "good hair".
