I used Indigo for the first time on Thursday. I knew I wanted my hair darker for the fall/winter. But I was kinda afraid that indigo would make my hair TOO dark. So I only left it in (under the dryer) for maybe 25mins then poo'd it out.

For the mix I only used hot water, indigo and 1tsp of Aphogee EFA (thanks to Sareca!!). I really really really love the result!!!!

Here is my hair before I used the indigo. I had done regular henna (red) about 8ish weeks ago. I liked it for summer; Ill prolly do it again around May of next year.

xxxxxxxxxx

Im pretty pleased!! Especially about the shine...

Thankyou for looking!!!! :D

Your hair looks great!!

So you just did the indigo by itself and the only henna treatment you did was 8 weeks ago?

I've done indigo and henna twice and I always thought that I'd have to henna before every indigo session and the indigo could only done right after the henna. If I never have to use henna again and can use indigo by itself from now on(since I've henna'd & indigo'd twice already), I'll be one happy camper. Please tell that is the case:grin:.

BreBre - Thank you so much!!

MissMadaam - Thank you!! Well the EFA is like a jack of all trades according to the back of the bottle. It has alot of different oils in it. Im gonna use it just like I used my EVOO - in everything: DCing, prepooing, adding to my relaxer, etc. :yep:

The back description says:

"This special, all natural, cold processed and raw, unrefined combination of oils helps restore the natural beauty of processed hair. It makes hair soft and pliable with a superb sheen and enables you to acheive a healthy permanent wave w/ extra lustre.

Aphogee Essential Fatty Acids Oil is unsurpassed as a facial oil. Use it to cleanse the skin, remove makeup, apply to dry skin areas. A few capfuls in the bath water makes skin soft and smooth."

I really like it so far. You only need a lil cuz its really concentrated. HTH!!

That came out so good! Your hair is blingin'. I bought some indigo today, I am doing a trand test at this moment, I hope mine is shiny like yours.

Hey lady!! :wavey:

Yah I only used the indigo by itself. I dunno if I was supposed to use the regular henna first, but I didnt. :ohwell: I didnt really like how my hair felt after the regular henna to be honest w/ you. But I do really like the indigo by itself; my hair feels great! I DC'd w/ moisture afterwards too.

You might wanna check w/ one of the henna pro's to be 100% sure. But I guess I was under the impression that indigo WAS a type of henna. So you would get the same conditioning benefits. But someone PLEASE correct me if Im wrong...

WaterChylde - Thank you!

Nisha - Thanks!! Well I got my henna from a local henna body artist. The indigo I ordered from a member here actually. But I know alot of ladies get theirs from hennaforhair.com I think. Or mendhi.com. They may be the same site tho. When I run out of what I have left Ill prolly be ordering from there too.

Its so beautiful! I'm partial to the red though. lol It was so pretty but the darker hair is just as blinging and beautiful!

Hey girl:wavey::grin:!

Well, since your hair didn't turn blue:lol:, I think it could work since the henna is still in your hair. For some reason, I thought henna faded over time but I think I'm wrong. I'll just do a strand test the next time I indigo and skip the henna step. I hate using henna because it's so messy and time consuming. And then indigo right after? It takes forever and a day:lol:. It would be soo much easier if I could just use indigo from now on without having to henna ever again. Anyhow, the color looks fab on you and I'm glad you're happy;)!

Cayenne - Thankyou! I cant lie, when I saw the pic of my red hair I was like dag, that was kinda hot... Ill prolly do it again for next summer.

Nixx - I know, all that work is a trip! I dont think the henna fades.... But try just the indigo and see what happens! :D

Tee - Thank you so much!!

Beautiful black color, beautiful shine. Now......if only indigo was sold locally dang it!! The indigo folks on line seem to have a same price monopoly.
Worth the cost but............

WOW...it looks great. I've been waiting for September so I could do the henna/indigo mix myself. I hope mine comes out like yours!!! The shine is incredible.

From my understanding, only previously hennaed hair should only be indigoed. Do not use indigo on hair that has not been hennaed prevoiusly.

If the OP had a lot of gray roots and such over the eight weeks since she hennaed, I think they would be obviously blue.

I don't think indigoed hair will take on a red tint when henna is used again. I will remain dark.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Your hair looks so beautiful- so shiny and I so love your cut. Boy, if I wasn't trying to grow my hair long I'd be so tempted to get a short cut like that .

Both colours are beautiful.
I'm sitting here with indigo in my hair (just washed out henna from my hair)...and you've put a bell in my head.
I shant be hennaing before applying indigo for a while...tooo much time wastage involved....
Also, i didnt know indigo could take after just 25mins...i always have mine on for at least two hours ( to be sure)...
Thanks for posting this...I've just learnt some valuable lessons:yep:

So, do you have to henna 1st before applying indigo and if there is quite a bit of grey will it be blue after the indigo. I am dying to try henna and indigo. But can't find it in my area. Not really wanting to purchase online but might have to.

This is right. I have a lot of gray in the front. I henna and then Indigo every time (in that order). When the gray starts showing again I henna and indigo again. My gray seems to come back fast. I can't figure out if my hair is just growing faster or does the henna & Indigo fade like a rinse ??? Anyone know that answer?

Thanks!

Kels-that is some gorgeous hair. I think I am digging that red even more-I would love to go the color route again, especially if it leaves hair looking that glossy, healthy and strong. BTW, thanks for the info on the EFA oil-why is this my first time hearing about that one? *off to Sally's for a little shoppy shop*
