Since I've started biking more I've noticed that I've gotten some breakage from my helmet. Its a traditional bike helmet.

Any helmet heads have any tips to combat this?

Greetings!

I'm new to biking but not to helmets. It sounds to me as though yours is too tight. Also put a scarf or something over your hair. I wear a flimsy Kofia (african hat) under my helmet, that way if I choose, I can leave it on.

Also check out this thread. You may have something to add.

I've tried scarves...my head gets way too hot (first and last time I did it I nearly passed out!)

So in the end out of desparation I took one of my older scarves and sewed a band that fits on the inside of the helmet

My helmet has an adjustable cage inside of it which I loosened it as much as I could without it flopping around and being a safety hazard. I also started putting my hair in braids as opposed to a ponytail when I go biking.

Both of these seem to help tremendously. I still do see some breakage when I take my helmet off but its greatly reduced. I think I just may have to cover all the ribs in the cage so my hair dosen't catch on them (but I gotta figure some way to not cover the vent holes.)
