Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

I’ve been missing around these parts for some months, but happy to be here.

Near the end of April, I finally took down my Afro twist extensions, after 1 year of wear. I loved the short style so much but it was time. Whilst installed, every time I washed my hair, I would have to redo my whole head, so I didn’t get to wash my hair as frequently as I would have liked. A compromise I was willing to make for the style.

Upon take-down, I clarified- I have a horror story about this, that I’ll save for now to stop this post being too long lol. I did an Aphogee protein treatment (whipping it, as described by @Chicoro), and followed with a moisture DC and steam. I pressed my hair, and tried to trim, but I was hindered by my clarifying incident.

All is mostly well now, and on Thursday night I washed and pressed again, with my pressing comb, and T3 flatiron. I’ve given myself a decent trim and my hair has been in pin curls, wrapped up. My hair is fine, but appears healthy. I’m hoping whatever shorter strands I have will catch up with the rest of my length and increase my overall fullness.

Ooo! So good to see you here. I have missed you. I was just thinking about you and your lovely face the other day.

Thanks for the mention. Looking forward to seeing some hair pictures if you decide to post them. Let us know.

By the way, how did the Whipped Aphogee turn out for you? Was it less messier, easier, did it work well for you?

Thank you @Chicoro, I’ve missed bonding with you and others on this site. I’ve not been able to take any decent pics yet. I did take some of my initial blow-out (pre trim), I will try to attach below.

I’ve tried your whipped version of the two-step before, so I knew it would be far easier and less messy than using as is. The treatment went well- especially since it had been so long since I’d used any protein.

While my hair was in twists, I focused on keeping my length (and ends specifically) hydrated and moisturised. I only took them out because I started to see build up on my strands, not long (maybe two weeks) after being washed- which is unusual for me. So I knew I needed to clarify, and that a protein treatment would help my hair accept and hold on to moisture better, especially since I planned to press my hair.

How funny! @Chicoro I’m catching up on the new Luscious Ends thread, and I’ve just come to your post where you’ve reposted your whipping method, and your wonderfully innovative and helpful YT vid. I love it! And loved hearing your voice too. I know that was a few weeks ago, but I just thought it was almost serendipitous, or maybe rather meant to be, that I came posting about it today:drunk::D.

Hair growth oils/serums that come in a dropper need to be banished. Put in a nozzle already, everyone will be happier.

My current install is on its last legs ang it wants everyone to know. Every day, that new growth gets frizzier. Not complaining, just want to know who sent this my way.

If it's true that "type 4" hair curl pattern are shaped like a z, I don't actually have any hairs that are type 4.

I think it can be easy for curl type (curl/straight/wave), hair textures (fine, medium, coarse strands), and hair density (quantity of hair covering head) to be confusing.

I also think that it is assumed that if you you have Afro type hair, you automatically have a type 4 curl pattern.

Now I'm trying to remember what I saw today that triggered this random hair thought.....
I just saw this YouTube video and this woman's curl pattern reminded me of this post. The hair in the far left bubble is the closest to a z pattern I've seen. But then again, the final product doesn't look like zs to me, so.

These knotless braids look soo raggedy and it's only been two weeks. And I've even tried to listen to my family/friends who say that my frequent shampooing make my braids look raggedy faster, so I've left them alone. Ummm doesn't seem to make a difference for me--now I just have a raggedy head with an itchy scalp and stale smelling hair

I'm gonna go ahead and shampoo tonight. I'll try to leave them alone for two more weeks and I'm done after that. :yep:
