For all the ladies out there with thin edges, what have you used to thicken them up?? Ive been cursed with this for as long as I can remember and I think its genetic so not from pulling my hair back or anything, but Id like to see if there is something I can at least try to use to help me out!! Any suggestions on whats helped????

I used Naani's Naturals Growth pomade and my edges have been filling up nicely. Vatika oil works for some and also a nice stimulating oil, such as Hair2Heaven Stimulate or the H2H Growth oil. There are definitely plenty of ladies here who can give you some help with this. Good luck!

Bumping for more responses....I want to start tracking my progress with the growth of my edges so whatever anyone has been using Id like to know so I can compare/contrast.

Umm...whats BT?? LOL..forgive me sounding ignorant, but I literally just started with my haircare so its all new to me!! Its prolly something sos obvious and Im just being a blonde!! :hammer:

BT= Boundless Tresses. It's a growth serum/oil that Natural Lady makes. (She's a memeber here.) You can PM her to order some or go to her website www.growthspecifics.com. And yes, BT does help thicken and help with length as well. I should know! If you don't want to wait for delivery, you can always use JBCO (Jamaican Black Castor Oil) which really helps with thickness(and is cheaper). You can find it at a beauty supply store (that's where I found mine until I realized that my mom had it at home the entire time, I just didn't know cause in Haitian-creole it's called something else.) or at a West Indian grocery store/ market somewhere. Hope that helps!! :)

Thanks lizjoseph...This helps a lot!! I have heard of the JBCO but was not sure how to use it. How would I use it?? Just slap it on the edges...lol??? Sorry Im such a newb!

LENZI REQUEST MIXED WITH BOUNDLESS TRESSES, I can tell a big difference my edges are filling in .

eqyss avacodo mist and cell rebuilder.

I had a bald spot from wear my hair in shreds, and it's no longer here.

I used MTG on it and it filled it in but not completely since I've been using the eqyss avacodo mist it's complete filled in and thick.

Thanks for the responses ladies!! I am writing all of this down now!! LOL. How long should I wait to see some results before trying something new?? Im sure not everything works for everyone so I know I may have to experiment until I find the ones thats right for me...although BT sounds like its had pretty good success with many of the women here on the board.

whatever products you choose to use, i would suggest gently massaging your temples with your fingertips every night for about five minutes...it feels good and it gets the blood flowing in those areas...HTH!

One of the things that has really helped me is just leaving them alone. When I get my hair braided, I have the braids (cornrows) set back at least 1.5 inches away from my hair line. That way my edges don't go through the same tightening and pulling as the rest of the hair during the braiding process. I wear a satin du-rag every night w/ a satin bonnet over it, and sleep on satin pillows. When my hair is straight, I wrap it with a large wide-toothed comb. I also try to keep my edges moisturized and massage oil into my temples from time to time. But then again, my edges were thin due to tight pulling and manipulation....

Thanks again to all whove responded!! This is really helping me out. Ive been flying by the seat of my pants on alot of this, based off of what Ive been able to read from the forum as I was lurking...Now Im about ready to put my plans into action and do something!!! You guys have been so helpful. I am updating my Fotki daily with all the pics Ive taken so far so come and give me your feedback, good/bad/ugly, whatever!!! LOL!

MTG or BT ... my hair responds quickly to sulphur based topicals. :yep: It also responds fairly quickly to emu oil.

What exactly is emu oil?? Ive heard of it, but I have no idea what it is or where its from...Im assuming an Emu of course..lol!!

Thanks lizjoseph...This helps a lot!! I have heard of the JBCO but was not sure how to use it. How would I use it?? Just slap it on the edges...lol??? Sorry Im such a newb!

You can use JBCO as follows:

1.) Apply to scalp/roots
2.) Apply to hair strands on wet or dry hair
3.) Add to your deep conditioner
4.)Hot Oil Treatment
5.) Any other way you wish to use it!!
