How long between hennas does the thickening and conditioning last?

I'm not doing it primarily for the color deposit, I'm doing it for the thickening and shine. How often should I henna for those results and how long does the shine and thickness last? Also will I get full conditioning benefits if I don't let the color release fully? I was going to let it sit for 3-5hrs, but I'll do longer if I have two.

Thunk-ya-berry-muches

I've been hennaing for close to a year now, and I henna once a month, and as of NOW - the shine/conditioning lasts from one henna to the next. When I first started, I was henna'ing more often, but it was overload for my fine hair.

I've never let henna sit for less than 8 hours :lol But thas cuz I'm lazy, and I usually sleep on it, anyhow. I know some ladies who only leave it in for 3 hours, and have wonderful results. I have resistant (stubborn! :lol) hair, so I leave EVERYTHING in for as long as I can stand it.

Bumping for more replies.

How soon before you ladies see the thickening and shine benefits from henna fade? Do I need to do a full henna every 2 weeks to maintain the thickness?

I emailed Hennasooq about the thickening effects and this is what she said:

The thickening of your hair is usually permanent as long as you use henna or have henna in your hair. Once it grows out the thickening will also grow out. You have to consistently take care of your hair and give it treatments in order to remain healthy, shiny and thick. For thickening and hair growth I would more so recommend shikakai powder.

For me, it seems to last until my next wash. I did start adding shikakai because of her repsonse. I also added in hibsicus powder for thickness also.:yep:

on my hair henna works like a relaxer works in that the new growth (not hennaed) hair would be the only part not thickened/conditioned. I hope that makes sense. :spinning:

I used it once and my hair has felt different and thicker since then (maybe about 4-5 weeks ago). I didn't put anything in there for a color release and it still color released on some of my hair. I noticed today that some of my premature gray strands (that I've had since I was 7 years old) are a copper-colored gold! Very cool in my book and I'm quite happy about that.

I kept it on my head only for an hour and I sat under the dryer with it.

Wow, until the next wash? That's so little. Bah

I think how long you leave the henna in your hair makes a difference, as well. I wash my hair/get it soaking wet often, and I still keep the shine/thickness of henna afterwards.

One more question, will using a henna gloss (conditioner mixed with a tiny bit of henna) refresh the shine/thickness in between monthly or bi monthly henna treatments or should I do the full treatment?

Thanks!!!

For me it has

I did a couple of full henna treatments, and after that i've done about 10 hennaglosses.

The hennaglosses are way better for me, because they seem to give the same amount of thickness, but better shine and less color and tangling--because my hair isnt left so dry, dont have to do all of the rinsing and re-moisturizing and detangling, and the color i dont really care about because i dye my hair black

The hennaglosses worked very well all of the times, they seem to build on top of one another with the thickening effects, i got a relaxer so i stopped for about 2 weeks, and i just did my first one again (hennagloss), my hair isnt as thick as it was before, but thats probally because of the fresh relaxer, im going to see if hennaglosses are enough to keep the hair thick, and if they need to build up over time, or if i do infact need to do full henna treatments every once in a while

Ladies if u PM Hennasooq about the glosses or whatever can u let us know?? .. i dont want to pm her the same questions..thanx a bunch :)
