my hair is natural but i recently been straightening it, but my hair is quite fly away. so i tried some ic gel as recommended on here, but it was water based and took all the straightness out of my hair and it reverted back to my fro. and it was still sticking up.i want to be able to slick bak my hair, without it stickn up.i want it to lie flat, can anyone suggest anything strong enough to hold down my hair, water doesnt work it lets it puff out more, please any suggestion???????

Gel is water based so it's going to make your hair revert. You need to try some type of wax or pomade.

Yes, there's a great pomade in the Smooth Down line by Redken. It is light, but all you need is a very little bit.

i found redken serum but no pomade,is this for european hair or can a 4b hair type use it without it dryn out or breaking off, how long have you used this product, if you dont mind me asking?

I get terrible flyaways around my temples after I get a dominican blowout. The stylist always uses Biosilk serum, but it still pops up when the wind blows :perplexed

It is part of the Smooth Down line. The name of the actual pomade is Sleek Obedience and I have never known it to dry out anyone's hair in the year that I've been using it on my clients' hair.

Elast QP Mango butter or African Best's Carrot Oil Cream.

I  Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Pomade and Jonathan Products Silk Dirt styling creme. (2 of my staples)

Beyond the Zone Stiff Head is good for fly aways

I use this as well. I have bad flyaways or rather curls that pop up that won't lay down.

My alternative cheapy product is, optimum olive oil...just a LITTLE though cause it can be greasy.
