My cousin and I were arguing and she's telling me, INSISTING that you are supposed to put relaxer all the way to the ends of your hair when you are giving yourself a perm:lachen:. With the knowledge that I've gotten here, I was telling her that you need to put relaxer on the roots of your hair since that is the part that has not been chemically reconstructed. She became a bit upset and insisted that that was a 'touch-up' and not a full fledged 'perm'. :nuts:
Somebody please help me:lol::lol:

Your cousin can go ahead with a full-head of relaxer IF SHE WANTS TO END UP LIKE ME....continuously breaking hair, bald spots, & thinning hair!

My stylist too my hair all the way down because the bottom of my hair was really curly :mad:

Some people.......:lol::lol::lol: It's a good thing you know better cuz there are some STYLISTS that believe that:ohwell:. *smdh*

How does her hair look?

You just keep doing what you are doing and stick with this site and in time your progress will show her that you know what you are talkin about.

And furthermore tell ur cuzin that a relaxer and a perm are not the same thing.

:lol:Has she read the directions on the relaxer kit or tub before?

Anyway no sense in arguing with her. She will running to you for advice when she sees your long flowing hair. "Now what was dat thang you had said about permin' only the roots again?"

Well, you ARE supposed to pull the relaxer through when you give yourself a perm. And yes a touch up is just for the roots.

I'm confused is she saying that you should do pull the relaxed all the way down when doing a touchup?

I think she literally mean applying the relaxer from root to ends.

One of your first LHCF lessons learned......you can tell her but experience will be her ultimate teacher. Leave her alone, take care of your own hair....she'll have to learn on her own; Cuz will be back to you soon enough. I think one corrective relaxer is cool but repeatedly is the destroyer mode.

I guess where I am confused is this a "first" perm or just a touchup.

I think I am going crazy:lachen:

Bre it's okay I get like that sometimes myself:lol:

She means that her cousin believes that you should perm/relax your hair like this all the time. I don't think she is speaking of a virgin relaxer. Correct me if I am wrong OP.

No, she is saying that you're supposed to put relaxer from root to tip when you'r doing a 'full relaxer', but for a 'touch-up' you're just supposed to do the roots. But aren't you supposed to never over-process the ends? She puts relaxer on her WHOLE HEAD everytime she does her hair :lol: She is focusing on definitions when she should look at technique I just thought that it was funny!
