Joico Moisture Recovery Balm

I've been reading so much about it on this board but just tried it yesterday. I am in love!! I clairified, did a protein treatment with Joico reconstructor and then DC with the moisture recovery balm. My hair is so soft and...just luscious. And I don't know if it's a combination of the kpak and the balm but I have like no shedding! And I usually shed like a cat. I've been using kpak for a while but it's never worked this well alone. So yeah I'm in love. :)

Yesss Gawd. I tried it first as a rinse out. My hair slid through my hands like silk. Went back to the store the same day :cycle: and purchased 2 more bottles of it. Tried it the next wash day as a deep treatment. Same silky feeling as the first time but my braidout that week felt Ahhh-MAY-ZING. No conditioner I own has ever made my hair feel this way and I've been rocking with some over 10 years now, so that says alot. Went back to the store again :cowgirl: and bought the last 2 bottles on the shelf.:giveup: Best hair product purchase this year.

Oh and it's the only product I've tried from this brand, however I would like to try the K-Pak intense Hydrator. Unlike the Moisture recovery balm, I can't seem to find it at TJ Maxx. I did see it at Ulta but I don't want to pay full price....if I come across it in TJ Maxx or Marshall's, I will pick it up though.

@NaturallyATLPCH

At one point (when I was using Salon Brands) and relaxed early in my HHJ, I had a lot of products from the Moisture Recovery, K-Pak and Intense Hydrating lines.

Also a couple products from the Silk Results line.

I think Joico is a good, solid, moderately priced Salon Brand. Definitely. On the ground and easily accessible. Consistent results.

It would be a Product line that I would revisit along with Nexxus if I were to go back to using moderately priced Salon Brands.

And probably Alterna, L'Anza, Pureology, Redken and a few others.

I just used it about 2 weeks ago and loved it! I used it when I straightened my hair and it was like I had a fresh relaxer. It was super shiny and straight and it did not revert the entire time. I even blogged about it. I paid full price at the bss but went to TJMaxx after I tried it and found it for $7. I got that, the conditioner, and a sulfate free shampoo by Joico.

I love, love, love it! I purchased it from my local Marshall's for the first time a couple weeks ago and wonder why I've been sleeping on it. My hair was super soft, easy to detangle and remained moisturized without having to go back to M&S each night. Its now at the top of my list of moisturizing DCs.

It's a good solid conditioner. Very moisturizing, so much so that you'll probably need to balance it with a protein conditioner pretty regularly - I know I did. I stopped using it and switched to conditioners that use more natural ingredients because it made my hair soft but still not juicy and healthy feeling - if you know what I mean - like the old AOHR formula used to for me. Maybe it could've used some added oils or something idk. But still it's very effective at softening if you have dryness issues.

I wish the moisture recovery balm worked on my hair. My hair had no slip when I deep conditioned with it. I've also left it on for 5 minutes, and my hair was still tangled. On the other hand, the moisture recovery shampoo and conditioner are great on my hair.

@NaturallyATLPCH , you'll love it! A natural equivalent is SD Shea What! Joico and Keracare are my OTG go to products.

@lulu97, the K-Pak Intense Hydrator would be redundant if you have the MR Treatment Balm, because it's basically the Balm under the K-Pak line. However, you'd enjoy the K-Pak Revitaluxe.

ETA: my favorite clarifier/chelator is the Joico K-Pak Clarifying Poo.

ETA2: Joico K-Pak Clarifying Poo > Redken Cleansing Creme.

Hey @MileHighDiva , it's great to see you!
Yeah, I'm trying more not natural stuff lol...four years of this natchel stuff and I want to explore cones and synthetic stuff .
I tried SD Shea What! and it was too pasty for me. I didn't like the application. My hair felt okay afterwards, but I want stuff I can get OTG or free shipping with Amazon Prime.

Sorry it didn't work for you. The good news is, if I don't like it, I can get my money back :yep:.

@NaturallyATLPCH, what happened? Why are you experimenting with cones? Will you be blow frying and/or flat ironing your hair?

Well I guess I should be specific. I'm experimenting with DCs or rinse outs with cones. I'm tired of being an ingredient snob when my hair just feels meh. I mean, I've tried some great things but I just want to venture out and try poos/DCs with cones because I've never tried them before.
No, I won't be blow drying or flat ironing my hair. I didn't do that relaxed. I will be roller setting from time to time @MileHighDiva

It used to be a staple of mine, but since the labelling change, I'm experiencing what you described. I noticed it in the most recent batch (past six months). I noticed that there was a slight formula change. It's also less waxy/thick.

@MileHighDiva Thanks for the heads up Lady! I'll scratch it from my wish list for now especially since it's comparable to the Moisture Balm. I'm not going to go out my way to pick it up....but should I happen to see a lonely bottle sitting on the shelf at TJ Maxx, I'll take it out it's misery and buy it. I mean it's only right...right?! :lachen: (Oh the things us DC junkies say:lachen:
:angeldevil:)
