I often google search ancient African hair practices, just to find out how black women cared for their hair.
How often did the wash it?
What did they wash it with?
How did they style it?
What did they put on it?
Did they have long hair or short hair? Did they shave it bald?
I basically never get anything interesting, most of the time I end up at LHCF. But this time I found a bunch of portraits of women in Senegal, some from the late 1800s, early 1900s, and 1950s-1960s.
