Hair picks & hourglass rollers

I have some Capelli hourglass rollers but I can't figure out how to use hair picks. I have been using metal prong clips, but they aren't working too well. Any tips? Videos?
 
I have those rollers and bought the picks. I use then occasionally, but I mostly use metal prongs. Many ladies in the setting to success thread use them. Try posting there!
 
I'm in the same boat as you OP.
Can't figure out those picks.

OH! That's easy! I thought it was something new and sophisticated. I'll try to explain it but if you can't visualize it, go down the hall, next door, at work, or anywhere and ask any woman over 50. We used these rollers and pins YEARS ago -- we didn't have electric curling irons, etc...

For illustrative purposes take a small section of hair at the front and roll it around the roller toward the back of your head (whether you wear your hair that way or not). You would not be rolling it forward like bangs, roll it the other way (just for the explanation). When it is rolled all the way, put your hand on the very top of the roller. Consider that the HALF WAY mark. You are going to go a little further toward the back of your head - maybe between the HALF WAY mark and the THREE QUARTER mark and insert the pointy part of the pin. You angle the pin toward your forehead and you keep going until you hit skin. You push the pin through the roller and it will be coming out the FRONT of the roller, pushing against on your face pointed down toward your nose. The roller will be tight as can be. Won't budge until you budge it.

I'll see if I can find one and take a pic.

It's all about the angle. Move past the top of the roller and toward the back of it but not TOO far.

I'm going to try that when I get home. I can get the roller to stay, but I'm having problems getting the roller tight. Thanks for the pic!

I just use snap on caps along with metal clips. It yields a smoother set especially on natural hair

See I can't use those well...lol. I throw them right in the trash when I open the pack. I get dents with the snap caps.

I was having difficulty with the metal prongs. I have some snap on caps that go with my magnetic rollers... I may try those.

I recently found out myself. I knew I would eventually want to buy hourglass rollers bigger than Aqua and that the Capelli Care site was unavailable. So one day, I was bored and I remembered the brand of the rollers is "Sal." So, I googled "Sal Italian Rollers" and found it. :lol:
 
I just washed my hair and I actually got the rollers to stay in!!! Thanks to everyone!!!
