Tea Rinse Recipes

EnExitStageLeft I don't think you should add the avj until you find teas that work for you. Or if you absolutely have to use only 2 teas 2-4oz and 2oz of avj... avj can have a drying effect just like acv if you don't learn your right portion.

@Babygrowth your hair dries out with it? My hair adores AVJ, this is my reasoning for adding it. Your right about trying to find teas that work for me though. I'm way to impatient sometimes.

EnExitStageLeft perhaps start with marshmallow root and add from there....it's probably one tea that's messing with you.

I love avj too but it is protein-like so if you are at all protein sensitive be careful.

Yeah, it could be a pH thing as I don't think my hair is protein sensitive. But as long as I lightly rinse or put it under a DC I'm good.

ETA: I probably also need to add more moisturizing teas and I will have a better result.

So now I know why the tea rinse I did was so-so. I thought I did my research (on the internet and youtube) and people were saying "any ole tea will do". WRONG! The generic black tea I bought from Big Lots is nothing compared to what I am reading on this thread. OP thanks for the post. I need to up my game!!!!

I've heard grown a** people pronounce ask "AXE" and liked "like-ded"

Drives me nuts!!

IDareT'sHair where do you get your Blue Malva? I haven't been able to find it anywhere!

I've a tea-head for a year now

No EnExitStageLeft--no trying more than one at a time! Eeek! I love my tea and herbal rinses by some my hair does NOT agree with. Example: black and green teas. Seem to work for most but they make my hair dred up too. Rose petal and lavendar left in are bad for my scalp. My daily staples (yes, I use tea almost daily) are simple and when I want to add something new, I add one and only one to test for a week.

Here are some of my staples and how they work for *me*. As you can see, my list is small and simple:

Dandruff healers, Scalp Cleansers and Growth
fresh ginger root
fresh garlic
basil (holy basil/tusli)
mint (cleansing only)

Detangling and DCing
Oolong
Rooibos
Nettle
Bamboo

Shed and Breakage Control
Nettle
Burdock Root

I also use Ayurvedic powders, which are really just ground up leaves, but you didn't ask about that, so... :look:

When you are using ayuverdic powders to make teas, do they need to be steeped in a coffee filter or teaball? Do the powder dissolve fully or do they need to be strained for grit before using?

Yes a coffee filter/tea ball and a strainer. ...
