I recently got a bottle of this & it's one of the worst things I've ever put in my hair ! Made it hard crunchy, dry & hard to comb. Had to wash it out. I've read numerous other reviews by folks who had the same experience. I hate to waste money by tossing it so have any of you had this experience & managed to mix it with something that would make it work? Please let me know if you have.

I use it as a hair perfume or body spray .its great for that . It covers smoke and food smell.

Maybe she changed the formula or something, I have 4b natural hair and my hair loved it back in '08. I used to dilute it with mineral water and also alternated by using aloe vera gel as a water-based leave-in moisturizer. HTH

I think glycerin is the culprit with that leave-in.

Try diluting it with water. You could add your own oils to it too.

ETA: If you bought it from Target, return it!

there's a lot of protein in that product. But it smells nice. I use it to freshen up a room. lol
My hair can handle a lot of protein so i use it on wet hair.

Glycerin's not a problem. I use S Curl ( old & new) plus StaSofFro off & on with no problem. I'm beginning to think it might be the protein or the KIND of protein, altho none of the other protein conditioners I've used cause my hair to get wiry & crunchy. It might also be another ingredient or a combo of ingredients

different products have different % of ingredients. Also, it depends on the other ingredients to balance out the protein. So a conditioner with wheat protein may not affect your hair that much because of other moisturizing ingredients. Or its just diluted more. But the Carol's daughter leave in can have a higher % of protein and if the other ingredients aren't doing anything then the overall performance can be very potent

I have been thinking about creating a "RE-PURPOSING" thread to handle products like these. I have a few myself that seem like there is no hope for re-using it. And its too terrible to put on the exchange board.

Yep, a hair perfume is the only use I ever found for it - a light mist or two. If I used any more than that, my hair turned into a sticky mess.
