I have them in now and I am wondering how to moisturize my hair using the sponge method? I have heard about it but have difficulty actually finding how to do it. Thanks!

Are you talking about the old crown n glory method? I would use a sea sponge. Let it absorb in a bowl of water and then gently squeeze the sponge as I go down the length of the braids.

I'm interested in this as well. I would definitely get some braids for the summer if I knew I could properly moisturize during that time.

NO, you want a sea sponge. I haven't bought one in a while but I know I didn't pay over $2.50 for it.

Sea sponge? So not just like a cleaning one?
Sea sponges are best but I have used kitchen sponges in a pinch. Just put your moisturizing product in a large bowl in the sink, dip the sponge in the product and squeeze it down the length of the braids. I try to stay over the bowl so the excess product can run back down into the bowl and not waste.

ETA: I always use a mixture of braid spray and infuusium 23 to moisturize my braids ( crown and glory method) and my hair feels great after taking the braids out.

blackbarbie986, I really couldn't tell you other than I've heard most conventional sponges are chemically treated. When I did the CnG back in the day I used the sea sponge because that's what Robin's site suggested. Maybe someone who has tried both will chime in.

I think both serve the purpose but I like the sea sponge better because it's more absorbent and more pliable.
