does anyone self weave their hair?

i spoke to someone that does but ive always wondered of it was easy or very very hard to do. i feel like doing weaved on my own.

i d like to learn. ive had only 2 weaved in my life. i want to ps more, braids are so long to do.... id like trying weaved , on my own.

i thought if weaving the back and crocheting the front to go faster and make it look more natural.
i need to retain so good.

what do you think?
 
I used to do self installs all the time. Now I just wear wigs. It's much easier for me and I can access my hair/scalp daily.

It's pretty easy to do. The hardest part is doing the cornrows. I can never get the braids tight like when someone else does it.
 
I self weave only for special occasions, but I wear wigs most of the time. If you would like to start, I say start with a simple sew in with a leave out. Then, you can move on to more difficult ones. It really helps when you can do your own and don't have to rely on others to hook you up.

when you sew down a wig, does this mean there is no access to the scalp, and no washing our hair for all the time the wig´s on? might seem like a stupid question but,i really have been wondering how to take care of the hair underneath te wig. sew ins you can still reach your scalp and wash hair easier. how about the reggie with a wig?

seems like a good ps for my hair and that doesnt take ages to do (except if i do it for the first time of course)

The wefts are sewn on a net. It's takes 5 mins to sew down so it's no problem to either take it off then put it back on or just work through the net

im jealous! you do them well. i really need to learn! this woulb be great for me and less time consuming.

i was supposed to braid my hair last night: i gave up and didnt do it.... i had washed my hair and all but didnt do anything . :-( thinking of the 5-6 hours braiding discourages me

doesnt the net come off easily? like any other wig? or is there a special way to make it stick on your head well?

i know ive got too many questions but i know nothing ! lol

The wefts are sewn onto the net, the net is then sewn onto your perimeter braids which keeps it very secure.
 
I only do self weaves....it saves times because you can install at your convience and it saves money lol but like someone said start with a sewin with leave out...and practice makes perfect you can do it!
 
I don't but I would sure love to learn. I stopped getting sew ins because it forces you operate on somebody else's time. Plus you have to pay that person in addition to already having paid for the hair. So now I just do wigs.

oh i see. im gonna need to learn very well !

i only know how to conrow backwards (classic type) and without extensions :-/

im ashamed my friend from thailand can self conrow with all different styles,zig zags, and can weave,braid extensions...all that with her asian straight hair . ( she learnt on black hair though).... and me: bad at doing all that

im transitionning though. do you think its fine to have a leave out? im only 5 months post and my hair straightens easily. maybe i shoulf flat iron then leave it for like 3 weeks by moisturizing only under the wig ànd using an oil on the leave out?

oh and as a starter do you advise any type of hair to start with?

i used a wig and it messed up my edges though :-/

thats Why im trying to learn more styles.

i also hated paying for the hair ànd then a stylist that braided to damn tight without listening to you.
 
This is a great question coolsista-paris! I've been braiding my hair with extensions for 10+ years, and normally it takes me 8 hours but the last time it took me THREE DAYS! :perplexed

I do love braids but I'm getting bored of them, so I will be watching this thread for lots of ideas!
 
I install self weaves (sew in and glue) for myself and family.

I learned from YouTube, you can too it's pretty easy once u get the hang of it.
I like using closures because it's more realistic to me then other methods.

Just search on yt and there's TONS of tutorials.

Oh yes and with my sew-ins I leave out just a bit of perimeter so I can blend it with the weave or wig I am wearing.
I was weekly. I just put watered down shampoo and condish (in separate steps) in a condiments bottle. I then work in between the braided rows under the weave and work the suds thru my scalp and braids.
