Ok Amla oil users have you noticed straighter hair with this product? I just used it for the first time and my hair is now crazy straight! First off let me start by saying I have 4b hair and I was planning on relaxing this week. I am only 5 weeks post but I have been using MN and it looked like I was 3months post. On the daily I rock a wig but it was getting so puffy under there that the wig was starting to look funny. I put amla oil on my hair and scalp and I kept it in for like two days and I just washed a few hours ago. Instead of puffing up like it normally would my hair was smooth and silky and STRAIGHT!!! I didn't use any type of heat at all. I just co washed with tresseme and let my hair airdry. I didn't even do the satin scarf method. Anyone else experience this?

Does it have to be left on the hair for two days for the straight results or can it happen in less time?

I really don't know. This was my first time using it. I will try a few hours next time. Maybe some experienced users will speak up.

I wish LHCF would stop reading my mind:look: I searched eBay for this a couple of hours ago! This is an oil mentioned on a board where I lurk, They say that it also darkens the hair.

Please keep us posted. I've got my finger poised over the "bid" key:lachen:

Well sound like I need to pull mine out on the next poo and give it a try. I such a PJ that I buy things and dont always get to them right away.

I've been using Amla Oil since December of last year and it has consistently gotten my hair straighter when applied to wet hair. I usually apply it to freshly pooed/COW hair that has some leave in conditioner in (Salerm 21, Rivas Silicon Mix or Mega-Tek). I apply it on top of the conditioner and bun. When I take my hair down it is ALWAYS straighter when I use the Amla vice when I don't. I've never used it for flat ironing or with heat.

HTH.

Really? I never noticed that. Maybe because I already take silica and it makes my hair straight. :ohwell:

I noticed this i.e I used Dabur Amla Oil and it's like my undergrowth has disappeared, seriously.

That is why I googled Amla and straight hair and found this post. If that is the case, I can see myself stretching easily.
I am currently 10 weeks post.

I oiled my hair with it last night, then went into the steam room with ORS Hair mayo, left that on for at least 90 minutes, then washed off and air dried. My hair is amazing, it is soft, shiny and flat.

I deliberated about using it, since it's the one with mineral oil in it, but it has worked for me and it is going into my weekly arsenal.

Still touching my hair in amazement!!!!

I've never noticed it but I will check it out the next time I use some. I mostly use Vatika oil but I may have to throw Amla back in the mix.

I was really shocked myself, I also found this.... so I think there is some truth in it. Someone on another thread mentioned the same thing Baddison - she said it melted her undergrowth.

If I do it one more time this week and the same thing happens, then I will be doing a 4 month stretch..

I found this on the net

Amla beauty benefits for hair and skin

Regular intake of amla can cure acne and pimples and prevent further breakouts. The amla extract can also be applied directly to the face to reduce pimples and oiliness and give a glow to the skin.

However, its major benefits are for the hair. Indian markets are flooded with hair products containing amla extract. You will find amla hair oil, shampoos and hair packs freely available in India.

Regular use of amla strengthens the hair follicles, stimulates hair growth, keeps dandruff away, straightens your hair, prevents split ends and nourishes your hair. It also prevents premature graying of hair and stops hair loss.

Meh.

I been using amla powder a year and the oil the last few months as a prepoo.

In general Ayurvedics seem to loosen curl pattern, not just amla. My 4b area is like a 4a. My 4c is maybe 4B But I am natural. Maybe it's more dramatic on relaxed hair.

I use the oil AND the powder regularly so it does straighten hair.. and darkens it.. I have never seen my hair so black and shiny.. and I have new growth up the wazoo.. but then I use Amla powder, oil with neem and other things..

Hmmmm... I don't think I noticed this on my relaxed hair but then again I didn't use it much. Will see if I see this effect on my natural hair since I've started back using it.

Ok, ladies that are experiencing this straightening, how and how much are you using???

Dayjoy

I applied it to my hair like a pre poo aka oiling. And baggied over night, I co washed the next day around midday. And my new growth was gone, henna does not do this to me.
