2b/c.

Now I know very little about relaxers, I had a relaxer for a few years when I was maybe 14-17 and two of those years I was just in weave.

So any ideas?
photos?

It's probably possible. However I've heard of ladies with your hair type being very resistant to relaxers, as if they had done nothing at all.

Hm, possibly true. When I first relaxed they used an extra strong one and left it for ages (my scalp was stinging) and I still had curls

The thought of the pain I went through for relaxers has actually just put me off now haha

Yep, putting in a relaxer on type 2 and 3 hair is like slathering on funny smelling conditioner. It does not a thing.

I wish I could find the thread we had on the subject! Someone had a theory about the difference in bonds with looser curled hair, and how they seem to be harder to break down. It sounds so backwards, but it does seem as if the closer your natural hair is to straight, the harder it is to straighten it through chemical means.

I don't think it will help and might add some damage to it. I don't have your hair type but I am super relaxer resistant. I can leave a relaxer on for your 20 minutes and when I wash my hair it is still curly/wavy. Even when I blow dry people think it is a press. I don't think you're in luck. Sorry.

Here's my story. I have 3c hair which I started relaxing around age 16. I (mostly) wore a relaxed bob for years. Over the years I tried bonelaxing, texlaxing and everything in between with the same results: Even relaxed, I cannot get my hair straight without LOTS of heat. And as soon as I had new growth it was like I was wearing a hair hat. Now that I am fully natural and super curly there is no way flat ironing my hair would even work. When relaxed, it was EASIER to blow dry etc, but my hair was never truly straight without lots of heat and manipulation. Aint nobody got time for that!

I can successfully flat iron though :)
