In a different thead I made someone else brought up this product and out of five years on this journey, I was reminded that that is literally the only product I have ever used that kept my hair moisturized and melted naps instantly. I didn't buy more than two jars of it because I find it greasy. I find most things greasy really. But I was wanting to try it again using a different technique....I am also planning on using henna soon and I want it for a back up moisturized in case the henna drys out my hair bad. However Qhemet is closed until February and I can't wait that long. Has anyone usd a product that was very similar?

Thanks curlfriends

Good question, I purchased a jar last July when Reneice recommended it for my hair. I also found it to be greasy but like you, I loved how it moisturized my hair. Since I had already bought it though I did not want to waste it, what I did was get an applicator bottle and out some aloe vera water in and then the buttercream. I also added some drops of cayenne I purchased from Hairtrigger website and depending on what else I felt I needed I would add some castor oil or the hair trigger oil or some other oil. Occasionally I would add some jojoba oil. Reneice also recommended a leave in from shescentit. I purchased a moisture rich leave in and to extend the "life" of the bottle, I put some in a smaller spritz bottle and added some aloe water, not as much as the applicator bottle with the butter cream but I did add some oils to it. My hair has been thriving when I use these. Absorption is not an issue for me with these, I have unprocessed 3a-3c hair if that helps. HTH

Which Shescentit leave in?

Perhaps you could try Camille Rose Almond Jai very thick very similar texture & results but no glycerin..available at Target. Also MyHoneyChild Buttery Soy is good a different texture but similar results...and Purabody's MuruMuru Milk is nice.

HTH

I have heard good things about the Camille Rose and the MyHoneyChild. I can't wait to try both.

I think I heard though that Target has stopped carrying the Camille Rose already.

Faith yes, you're the one that reminded me of how well this product worked. I just wish it wasn't greasy. I think in going to look at the Camille rose. I won't try the my honey child though because soy has too much estrogen in it and most soy in this country is also GMO and I'm not comfortable putting GMO inside or outside of my body.

Thanks for the suggestion Hibiscus. faithVA have you tried a water filter? I'm going to buy one tonight or tomorrow I think.

OMG that Camile rose has so much oil in it. Here are the ingredients Product Ingredients: Deionized water, behentrimonium methosulfate (BTMS)cetearyl alcohol, prunus dulcis(almond milk), prunusdulcis (almond)oil, cucurbita pepo(pumpkin)seed oil, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil, simmondsia chinensis(jojoba) seed oil, oryza sativa (rice)bran oil, macadamia ternifolia (macadamia nut)seed oil, olea europaea (olive)fruit oil, cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil, ulmus fulva bark extract (slippery elm), ricinus communis(castor)seed oil, aloe barbadensis(aloe)leaf juice, honey, camellia sinensis(green tea)leaf extract, phenoxyethanol/caprylyl glycol(optiphen). sorbic acid, scent

I think that is more oil than the burdock root. I'm trying to avoid greasy hair. I'm not sure if this will work for me.

I also heard that the muru milk or whatever it's called is not moisturizing enough for 4 type hair. And I don't seal my products with oil, so again I'm not sure. Sigh....

Have you tried Darcy Botanicals?

I love Pumpkin Seed Conditioner, Cocoa Bean Hair Whip and the Tacuma Butter Moisture Whip Of course I use the Pumpkin Seed as a deep conditioner and sometimes as a leave in. The other two products are similar to Qhemet (although I prefer Qhemet)

I do have a water filter and I did not notice a difference. I also haven't changed my water filter since last year and I haven't noticed a difference. It doesn't mean that it doesn't do anything. I just think that the water where I am is not that harsh. When I travel I do notice that I have skin issues when I visit certain areas because of the water. Having a water filter doesn't hurt though. I intend to keep mine and will change my filter soon.

Yeah, I didn't find the muru milk to work for me at all. Divachyk says it works for her though. Not trying to spend your money but you may want to try the Camille Rose even with the number of oils. Even though it has a lot of different oils maybe they are more balanced throughout the product. If you buy it and don't like it, I will buy it off you. I would try it for you and let you know but I only have a little sample and I'm not trying to use it up yet.

Everyone hair is different. The Muru Muru milk works great for my hair. You will just have to try it for yourself.

The Camille Rose was actually too dry for my hair. I think it's bc of the almond milk though.

It's unconventional but I have been using Yes to Carrots Body Body Butter as a Burdock Root Butter Cream replacement. My daughter's hair is very finicky. I can't use anything too oily in her hair. I usually use Kinky Curly Knot Today as a Leave in on wash day and Qhemet's Burdock Root Butter Cream as a moisturizer. For the past two weeks I have been using the Yes to Carrots body butter as a hair moisturizer. It moisturizers her hair without being too wet and it doesn't leave her hair oily.

It is worth a try. :yep: And it is easy to get. Saw it at Target and it is $10 for 6 oz.

The yes to carrots is worth a try and it's only 10 bucks. I may do that. Thanks MilkChocolateOne. :) faithVA ok I think I'm going to try it. I know everyone's hair is different but I would feel awful if I got it and I didn't like it and the sold it to you and you hated it. So far everything I have sold on the swap has worked well for the buyer, but I would have definitely felt awful had it not.

Also I was looking into water filters for like 9 hours yesterday. Apparently what it is that causes problems with natural hair are the chemicals, but the minerals mostly. I started looking into this because I saw a few things that said if your hair breaks and is dry no matter how much you deep condition, moisturize and use protein etc, then it may not be the products at all it may be the water. I looked up the water report in my area ( I have lived here most of my life) and it indeed has hard water.

Shower head water filters and water softens are two different things from what I have learned. Shower head filters will not soften water at all they will only remove chemicals such as ammonia , chlorine etc and they also remove metals like lead, coper and iron. But they do not remove things like calcium, magnesium, silica and manganese which is what causes the water to be hard. To be sure I emailed a number of companies that sold shower head water filters and they all confirmed their product does not remove minerals.

I was only able to find one product that was both a water filter and softener that you could hook up in your shower. It's $200! So I bought a chelating shampoo to use every so often until I decide to make the plunge for the $200 filter.

Sorry if you knew all of this already, just wanted to write it in case you didn't and also all of my posts are away of keeping track of my own journey. :)

Girl please. If I'm not going to like it I definitely want to buy it on the exchange forum vs. paying full price and not liking it  That when when I pass it on to the next person I don't feel so bad. I have a box full of stuff waiting to go to some needy person.

But definitely try the Yes to Carrots. I want to know how that works. I will be trying whatever you try. I am hair stalking you now :yep:

^^^ lol you are the only person on this board who's hair sounds a bit similar to mine, minus the breakage. I felt like i had wrote that hydroquench systems review you poster myself lol. I'm stalking you too lol! Will definitely post on the yes to carrots, and the camomile rose...of to buy now :)

I'm starting to think that some of my breakage is self induced. I may be using products that are too alkaline for my hair. Time will tell.

If you are my hair twin then I am going to do a happy dance. :yippee:

Yeah, that hydroquench was something else. I knew better but I wanted to try it. And I bought Hairveda Methi Set. I haven't tried it yet but I don't know what I was thinking. :nono: Sometimes I need someone to talk me down.

Lol faithVA my hair has breakage! I didn't think yours did at all. My friend is going to make me a water filter AND water softener in one. He is going to it for me for free. He's a hydrological engineer. If it makes a huge difference in my hair I will have him make you one too and not for no $200. I can't spend $200 on something I am not sure will work! So boy genius it is lol.

Dang girl what kind of friends do you have? You have the hook up  I hope it does make a difference in your hair.

When you were talking about breakage I thought you were talking about me. My hair is crazy. I am playing around with some things. If I get them to work I will let you know.

Last night I DCd and just used marshmallow balm and Qhemet BRBC and my hair came out pretty decent. Not great but better than it has in weeks. I need to see how this works over the next few weeks.

Haha all men have some purpose right? Lol. I talked to him today when I was trying to figure all of this out and he was like " You should have called me in the first place" lol. I read that if your hair has breakage that you cannot seem to stop regardless of proper combing methods, deep conditioning, protein treatments, henna, what have you - it may not be your products at all, it could be the water, especially the minerals. You take pretty good care of your hair as do I so it's got to be something. You will be the first one to get the softner/filter that he makes me and if it works I'm going to tell him to franchise that forreal. Lol he probably won't, but at least we will have one haha. He is working on it right now so I i will have it soon!!!! Yay :) And definitely keep me posted. I wish I had some of that BRBC oil or not.

Thank You. That is so kind of you. I love early Christmas. :yep:

You should put him in business without him knowing it  Set up a website and get 500 orders and then show him the money

sparkle25 please do report back and let us know how your filter/softener works out. i'm natural but i feel like i lose way too much hair. my hair can be moisturized to the gods but if i run my hands along the ends, it will still come out. i have no idea why my hair is like that. when i watch other naturals on youtube, they don't lose as much hair as i do when i'm washing or styling. and i have a pretty healthy head of hair.

ellebelle88 that sounds like my hair. I have no shedding and my hair is pretty healthy, it's just dry but I have breakage even when it's moistirized. I will definitely keep you post on the filter for sure. This is crucial for me and I'm sure it is for you too!

Which Shescentit leave in?

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, really no excuse for it. But it's the Moisture Mist Leave-in Conditioning Spray.
The bottle I received is tall, not like the one in the picture but the wrapping is the same I believe (I am at work and cannot compare)
