Straight hair??????

I have been completely natural since July of last year. Since that time my hair has reacted horribly to the southern humidity to the point that I most always wear my hair in twisted updo's. A week ago I had my hair straightened at Too Goovy for the first time ever and the first day it poofed but since then it has been straight and has not swelled at all. I'm trying to get my $95 worth so I wont wash until this weekend.

Should I be worried and that my hair wont revert or it this normal. I just cant seem to figure out why all of a sudden this bush is laughing at the humidy even in South Florida. Was it the hydration therapy that helped .

I don't know what hydration therapy is, but if you are worried that your hair may be heat damaged wetting it and looking for curl reversion is the only way I know to find out.

I will tell you that in July 2011, I knew that my hair was heat damaged when I got home from a festival after being in 90+ degree heat and humidity for three hours and my hair was lovely all day. I hope that you don't have the same problem.

I just experienced major heat damage even after using an enormous amount of heat protectant..I would probably check and see exactly what was in the straightening treatment...also the first indicator for me was my hair being bone straight with high humidity in Ga...I started cutting my ends off last night)));

I'm traveling for work until tomorrow so as soon as i get home I am going wash. My stylist assured me that she did not use an unnecessary amount of heat but after reading this response i'm not very optimistic.

The only difference is that my hair got Chaka Khan big a few hour after and I used argon oil and wrapping to keep it straight.

If it doesn't immediately revert when you wash it, try doing a protien treatment to see if that helps your curls come back before you panic.

My hair has stayed puffy at the roots but the strands stayed straight and retained the curl from my nightly pincurls. No heat damage once i washed my hair. the products that they used my have actually worked. I hope that's the case

Either way you might as well enjoy the style while you have it. If it is heat damaged, you will find out when you wash and there is not need to rush worry. If its not heat damage then you found a great treatment that works great to resist humidity. Good luck.

I finally calmed myself down about the potential heat damage. I'll be back in the gym this week so I don't expect to maintain this style for much longer.

My hair is natural and I never EVER straighten it professionally in the summer. It's a waste of my time and money. It'll go from straight to poof in 4 minutes the second I step outside lol I did my hair 4 weeks ago for my daughters birthday and my hair didn't even make it 24 hours without reverting. Le sigh $45 bucks down the drain.

With that being said, go wash your hair and check to see if there's no damage. If you go back to the salon maybe you should wait till its winter (which should be like 60 in Florida).

prettybyrd - I just finished washing and it completely reverted with not even one straight end. I am extrememly impressed and want to know what was used to make my hair repel the humidity.

Someone on the board has to know the Too Groovy (ATL) process for their silk press!

I have a LONG review of too groovy on the forum as well as on my blog. I think the secret is high levels of moisture infused in the hair shaft.
