Ever had to take a weave out after only a week?

This is my first and last time having a weave because it is itching me like CRAZY!! The braids were too tight, plus she used a net, so it's very difficult to get in there to scratch and wash. She also used synthetic hair to add to the foundation braids. I feel bad that I wasted my money like this, but it's just too uncomfortable to bear. I had no idea it would itch like this.

I'm sorry you wasted money. At least you tried it.

There is a chance the combination of synthetic hair and tight braids is what is bothering you. If it weren't for that, I say a case of the itchies are most times easily solved with a braid spray.

too tight braids, plus synthetic hair you may be allergic to, equals disaster.

take those things out!

My first and last weave yes. I put them in for my wedding and honeymoon and the day we got back I had dh take it out...I couldn't stand it:nono:

It must have been seriously bad for you to have asked your dh to take it out!:nono:

Luckily I didn't spend too much on it, but that's probably part of the problem- you get what you pay for! I'm giving it one more day and if I don't see any improvement I will take it out.

I had Senegalese twists that I took out after a week. A waste of money, but they were itching me too bad. I think it's the synthetic hair. I say just take it out.

Try standing under the shower to soak the braids in water, use diluted shampoo with a bottle with a nozzle to try and get between the cornrows, next use water diluted with witch hazel in a spray bottle to try and get to your scalp

I was going to try that, but the last thing I want is to get mold or fungus in my hair from it not drying properly.

I read a few threads on bhm that suggested your hair could get moldy. Not sure if it's true and I don't want to find out either!

I wouldn't wait just go ahead and wash. In the future never use hair synthetic hair straight from the shop or the bag. Bring your own and wash it before using it. All those chemicals can wreck havoc on people's scalp.

If you wash your head and sit under a hooded dryer you should be ok. Those that have had issues get there from trying to wash and go and not drying their hair/braids properly.

If after washing you are still irritated then take it out and chalk it up as lesson learned. Never let someone braid your hair tightly. Ask (or tell) her to stop and if she doesn't end the appointment. The long term damage from one bad install is not worth it. I hope it works out.

It's true but if your going to wash hair dilute your shampoo and conditioner inside a bottle with a nozzle to get to the braids. Wash the hair out properly. And then take a blow dryer to the hair and dry the braids underneath as well. Lift each track up and dry to make sure the hair is properly dried.

I feel your pain girlfriend. I always take my weave out after two weeks. I just can't stand not being able to manipulate my own hair. I bought human virgin hair for 150.00 and then paid the stylist 125 to put it all in.. 275.00 all together. She said it will last me 6 weeks or more. I had her take it down after two weeks. Couldn't stand it anymore. I am not a weave girl but I find I miss it after about two weeks of not having it. What I do not understand is that they always say wash it and condition the hair. Then when I do, the weave gets loose and doesn't look as good anyway. Why wash it if it's going to get messed up when I do? Oh well, like I said I feel where you are coming from. I am the same way. I itch, I hate the net, and two weeks after it's in I want to feel and take care of my own hair.

I've taken a sew in out after a week.
Total waste of money, but my @ least my hair & scalp survived that super tightly braided mess.

I have also taken down braids (kinky twists)..that were ugly. I think they made it all of 4 days (again total waste of $$.. but they had to come out).

I took braids out in 2 days. Those things were so tight that my brain hurt. I was 9 months pregnant, miserable, and thought braids would be easy for the delivery. I hated them and so did everyone else. Then they hurt too? Those suckas came out!

ugh yes I did I wish I took it out sooner I remember it like yesterday I got a curly weave in grade I think gr.9 or 10 omg she braided my hair line so tight and sewed it on so tight I took it after a week and my head sides were bald :( so happy they have grown in not fully but its almost there

It can. When I was younger my siblings and I all had super long thick hair including my brother. He wore it in a rat tail until he was at least 12. But he would always wet it and not take it a loose to let it dry so when we finally cut it off (because it was too childish) we found a huge patch of mold growing where the braid attached to the scalp. Needless to say my mother shaved his whole head and did some disinfecting stuff to his head.

I think she may still have that braid somewhere.

I always do this when DD gets her braids. I soak it in vinegar and water the night before for about 30 minutes, rinse well and let it dry. She has never had a problem.

I've taken a weave out the day I put it in but not because it was itchy. I took it out because I looked hideous.

Did you get it (the weave) out, yet?

I may have the record on this thread, for quickest weave take down.

A braider was in the process of doing my hair, and I could tell she was doing it too tight (as I suddenly felt a migraine coming on). :ohwell: I should have been bold enough to say, "This sucks....I'm out." But I wasn't. :look:

I concocted some story w/dh, and got out of there w/a quickness. Thankfully, I hadn't paid anything, yet. I offered to pay for what she'd done--but she said it was cool. She'd only done one of the base braids for the weave.

When I got home, I was so glad I made the decision. The braid was SOOO tight (against my scalp), I could barely get it out. Also, the area of my scalp around the braid was bright red. :nono:

:barf::barf:

I think I would have been traumatised if that happened to me!
