So, after some waffling, I decided that I wanted to cut my WL hair to chest length. I went to the BSS since my old flat iron needs to be replaced. I got sidelined by a display asking why I wanted heat damaged hair, so of course I had to investigate. The Kiss company has been pushing their “Pro Silicone Protexion” in several stores and I was curious about it since I didn’t know much about silicone flat irons. I had seen their displays at a few other places, but wasn’t in the market for an iron at the time. The young guy at the BSS told me that they worked great and that he’d suggest it over the more expensive ones that they carried. It was $60, so I decided it was worth a try.
Ladies, I love this iron. It was able to get nice results with 1 pass and no blow-drying which thrilled me because I hate the double heat process. Keep in mind, I don’t go for the “swang” that we see with Reniece. I like it to be smooth and shiny but with a little bit of texture so that it holds braids and curls well. Below are my results. I used one pass per section covering 1 inch every 1.5 seconds. I used a light coating of Kerestase Oleo Relax and a little shea butter. I noticed that it took me standing in the shower for a while in order for my hair to go back. At first I thought it was because it was damaged because usually it's pretty quick, but it eventually went back perfectly. I took two pics. Sorry about the poor lighting and outdated background.
The hair on my right is exactly how it looked right before I flat ironed. My hair was slightly stretched after being in a bun for 24 hours. The crimp is from me braiding it while warm. It was perfectly flat before then.
Close up of the texture after one pass. You can see some of my natural texture behind the braid.
