Ladies!

What would you do if you FINALLY found that staple product that your hair loves and you vowed to never part with only to realize that you have a mild allergy to it?!

Yep, Main and Tail Detangler. Best product I've ever used, but it gives me big, itchy hives. I miss it so much. I keep thinking about trying it..one...more...time.

An allergy can definitely cause some major problems, that could potentially counteract the goodness of the product. I would put it away and move on to the next one, its not even worth it.

You need to stop using it right now. Continued exposure to a product you are allergic to can cause life threatening conditions, and even death. This is not something to take lightly. I would suggest finding out if there is a specific ingredient in that product you are allergic to, and try to avoid that ingredient in any other product. Be safe.

I agree with the ladies; please stop using it! Repeated exposure to an allergen can cause our reaction to grow more severe.

I would research the ingredients to determine which one is causing the reaction.

This is how I am with shea butter. At the start of my HHJ I switched to all natural products, 99% of which contain shea in the first 5 ingredients most of the time. At first I thought the CONSTANT itch in my scalp was because I was being heavy handed with products, or I wasn't rinsing well enough.

Then it dawned on me. Shea butter in anything made me itch. Lotion, conditioner, you name it. Lip balm with shea in it will give me tiny white bumps all over my lips :nono:

Now, I have to read the ingredients of everything I even think of purchasing, or I risk getting hives all over my scalp, neck, & hairline. It even makes my palms itch if I rub my hands over it.

I know that's not something you want to live with.

Not worth it. Not quite as serious but a friend of mine used a Tresemme mousse for years even though it broke her face out in cystic acne :nono:

I agree with all of the other ladies. I have a severe gluten intolerance. At first products with wheat and oats in it just caused headaches. I didn't realize it at the time and the symptoms worsened to vommiting and fainting. Now I try to look for certified gluten free products only. I really recommend that you pinpoint the ingredient that's causing the trouble and avoid it.

Yep, I've poured out the product to keep from using it and have kept the bottle in hopes finding out what the problem ingredient(s) could be. It's possible that it's not just one ingredient, but a combination that's causing the reaction.

I so agree, I have an allergy to Ppd in perm hair colors. Love the color but after severe reaction with intense itching, oozing sores and severe swelling Dr told me it could lead to anaphylactic shock.

This is me and coconut oil. Everyone swears by it, but I won't even go there. I have a leave in that contains it and I only use it on my ends when I'm bunning so it won't touch my skin.

I am severely allergic to castor oil. Rash on head that travels to face and rest of my body. *** that mess. I avoid it.

Also allergic to aloe. *** that mess too.

Ain't worth the trouble.
