@faithVA Heeeey.... I still make it for my entire family... I'm 'bout to make a new batch ... inbox me your address and I'll send some your way :)

How's your hair doing?

:yippee:

My hair is aiight. She is getting on my nerves and I'm getting on hers  I am going to try to keep her in finger coils for 15 weeks. Maybe the absence will make me grow fonder

I've bought the clay at Whole Foods for about $10 and it lasted a few months. I liked it but I wasn't consistent with it. It's great for your face and body too.

I watched her video this morning and it makes me want to put this concoction together.

I do not doubt that this will work well. Its gotta be especially cost efficient for nap85 because she basically only uses:

Mudwash
Shea Butter Mixture
Yogurt
Mayo
Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle
Oil

On her hair, and she only uses the Mudwash once a month. She buys her ingredients in large quantities and she doesn't buy new gadgets and products like most of us.

I was thinking that too. I wash twice a week and shampoo at least once a week so it wouldn't go that far for me.

I like to use clays to clarify and detoxifying every 3-6 months so this is a nice recipe. I will skip the essential oils and just use the oil I have on hand. I think the clay and the AVJ are the key components, everything else is substitute or change at will.

I really like that she is doing this mud wash as a DIY now. I was thinking that the ingredients she chose are on the more expensive side but the good thing about it is that those oils and even type of clay can be substituted. When putting together a mud wash, I'm thinking that we choose the EO's and base oils that address the needs of our own hair.

From what I've read Rose Hip seed oil is used to promote hair growth, combat hair loss, aids in cell rejuvenation, and is also used as a softener. For a llittle cheaper, you can use Avocado oil because it is also a softener and assists with hair growth. Jojoba oil can be combined with that because it is used to combat hair loss. Aloe aids in cell rejuvenation and that is already in the ingredients.

What kind of butter was it? I remember one girl who made a butter and it was hella good. Do you mind posting the ingredients?

Camdengrey.com can be a pain in the butt, I have posted/complained for them before. But the prices are cheap,I always get my order and am always satisfied with the product......if not the service.:ohwell:

Ladies, I just left the Mountain Rose Herb website. I'm confused!

Rhassoul and now it's just as easy to enjoy this splendor within your own home. High in Silica, Magnesium, Iron, Calcium, Potassium and Sodium content.

Aren't these the things that we buy shower/water filters to eliminate and chelate every so often to avoid having these minerals in our hair?

Please advise. TIA

I don't know but it sounds like I need to drink it  I need something with iron, calcium, potassium and magnesium.

hmm... when I make a mudwash I usually use bentonite AND rhassoul clays but mix with water and never EOs. I got a bunch here so might give a version of nap85's mix a try.

MileHighDiva some of these do make up hard water but in water the minerals are separate and free to interact with our shampoo, conditioner and soap and this is why they leave residue in our bathtub/skin/scalp/hair/shower walls.

In clay the minerals have bonded and formed together to make one molecule. It doesn't act like they do separately in water.

gorgeoushair Sure! (Listed by qty highest to lowest)

Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Cupuacu Butter, Shea Butter, Grapeseed Oil, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and Vitamin E.

Amarilles Thanks for clearing that up! Because, I was thinking it would be counterproductive.

I think I'll try a shampoo bar from Bobeam products, such as, thishttp://www.etsy.com/listing/115895985/new-acv-and-bentonite-clay-bar?ref=shop_home_active, or this http://http://www.etsy.com/listing/92916119/cocoa-rhassoul-clay-bar?ref=shop_home_active

That way I won't be over invested in it monetarily, if I don't like the clay experience, before I go ordering up $75 worth of stuff playing mixtress.

In addition, I'll get to test out both bentonite and rhassoul.

Naptural85's recipe is a deadringer for the Lavendar Gardens on Terrisentials by looking at the ingredients.

@MileHighDiva, these shampoo bars on etsy look interesting. Please keep us updated with the customer service and the product.

I really want to try terressentials but I wonder about the long term affects of using clay on the scalp. I vaguely remember reading something about scalp build up over a year ago.
Does anyone clarify from time to time with Nioxin, Kenra, Joico or any other kind of clarifying poo? What ingredients have cleansing properties in either her recipe or in terressentials?

@fine4s it's my understanding that the clay acts as a clarifying treatment, so you shouldn't have build up.

People are using it to detox their hair and scalp. The clay is the clarifying/ cleansing agent.

I dunno...the minerals in clay absorb oil and remove dust but they aren't known to remove buildup from products, it contains zero surfactants. Terressentials works because to use them they advise you to lay off anything that isn't natural. Like, if you can't eat it, don't put it on your head

Although it's true that people say they clarify with clay all the time. I personally switch off between my rhassoul wash and diluted shampoo. Whenever I've had that gunky buildup, rhassoul still refreshes my scalp and it looks and feels clean but if I scratch I'll have a bit of the buildup stuff under my nails. I personally need to shampoo to clarify, but some people say it clarifies for them so...it depends what you're using and what you're trying to remove.

^^I also think peoples scalps are different. I don't know if it is the oils in the scalp or what. Nothing sticks to my scalp doesn't matter what it is. But I have a dry scalp. So I can use terressentials without it leaving anything on my scalp. But I know other ladies have an issue with the clay on their scalp.

It doesn't work for everyone. For some people the mudwash sticks to the scalp. But I'm able to clarify with it fine. But I also don't use it every week. And Nap85 uses ACV to cleanse her scalp and the mudwash on her hair I think.

I imagine you don't use ingredients like silicones or polyquats? Those suckers would build-up fast if one uses clay as their sole cleanser...Terressentials included. But I do think you may be onto something, my scalp is overly oily (like my skin in general) and even my fairly natural ingredients build up quickly-ish.

I didn't know clay built-up on some people...I wonder how heavy they're making the mudwash? I have to make mine very liquidy, like 2 tablespoons of clay on 8oz water.

No I don't use silicones and I have no idea what a polyquat is  I do stick to mostly natural products. My hair seems to have less problem with them. I don't really use heavy oils or butters either. But I have no issue using shampoo either. I just switch up.

Some people have stated that the mudwash doesn't rinse off their scalp the first time they use it.

I dilute mine as well. I will dilute the terressentials at least 50%. But I didn't have an issue when I didn't dilute it.
