Hair tutorial gone wrong

Wow, have to admit I laughed out loud. After an incident with a curling tong which gave me a bit of heat damage, I felt her pain.

:( that's awful. Poor thing, her hair looks really baby fine I bet she had the heat turned up to max. Oh well at least she got a lot of hits, over a mil, not bad for her first vid.

O lawd! I do not think the iron was abnormally hot. I know exactly why her hair burned off. She practically applied a product that responds to heat the way tinder responds to fire. Tresemme Split Remedy Leave-in is not a heat protectant. Nothing about it states "safe to use with heat". Tresemme folks describe it as:

TRESemme Split Remedy™ Leave-In Conditioning Spray prepares hair for easier styling and reduces split ends up to 80% after just three uses. This unique formula, with our innovative Reconstructing Complex™, actually binds split ends and keeps working to fix damage and bind splits as they occur. Our lightweight formula can be used daily to detangle and make hair more manageable without weighing it down. You'll notice your finished style will be smoother, silkier and shinier-just like after a fresh cut

When will people learn to read and follow directions? They are not there for decoration!

I keep harping on the fact that the only thing that should be on your hair before using heat should be a heat protectant. No moisturizer, no leave-in. Using anything that is not meant to be used with heat is just inviting such accidents. The reason the product doesn't say "OK to use with heat" might be coz it's flammable. Using products other than JUST protectant is also why reversion occurs. But folks will do whatever they want. Guess experience is the best teacher so the only way folks will stop playing Russian roulette is when luck runs out and stuff like this happens.

Right, I'm trying to figure out why it literally just burned off like that? It burned off as if it was synthetic hair; that's what has me puzzled. Perhaps she had the temp way too high for her texture. Goodness :nono:

It is not the heat from the iron that is the problem; it's that she applied a combastible product that prepped hair for a good fry regardless of the temperature.

Just wow! I wonder if that split end spray caused that to happen to her hair although her hair looks color treated and very fine.

:yep: That spray's directions do not say "can be used as a heat protectant". She practically "added fuel to fire" so to speak. Only heat protectants should be on hair when using heat.

Never in my whole hair life have I seen anything like that. Her hair changed color in a matter of seconds and appeared to be melting like plastic

WTH kinda wand was that??? :lachen: The look on her face was priceless!

She's brave for putting that on the net. I hope she threw that away afterwards.

I can't believe she's already gotten 1.3 million views since last night!

i just watched that video like a million times and i know it was bad, but i couldn't help but laugh. :look::lachen: i can't believe she didn't see that her hair was changing colors, that should've been the sign that something horrible was about to happen smh poor girl

I feel bad for laughing too and her reaction was priceless, cause i know if she wasn't on video she would have burst into tears, so she kept her cool pretty good. Surprised she didn't smell her hair burning.

I laughed so hard lmao. I watched her hair turn textures on the iron so Im lost as to why she didn't sense something wrong. :ohwell: I love my curling wand. Idk what she was doing lol

LMAO!!! I should have heeded the warning!! Started laughing uncontrollably at work... Hospital plus YouTube = fired! Lol

I hope she's getting paid. When your video hits a certain number doesn't YouTube send you a check?

LovelyLouboutin
Yes I think that's how it works. After a certain amount of views you "make partner" with YT and start getting paid ($$$).
I must say.... after this particular incident, the poor girl deserves it!

[QUOTE Only heat protectants should be on hair when using heat.[/QUOTE]

Would Grapeseed oil be considered safe? I know a few women use it and it has a high smoking point...
