I don't really know what happened and don't understand how you could go from no visible splits to visible splits in such a short time, unless you were raking a brush or seamed fine-tooth comb through your hair. So chances are you already had the splits and maybe whatever balm you use (moisturizer, sealant) hides them by creating a coating that temporarily gives a healthy appearance. And it sounds like the extensions sucked the moisture from your hair hence taking off that mask and leaving your hair bare and without moisture. And dry hair is hard hair which is what you witnessed.
@Nonie is there any way to reduce the amount of moisture absorbed by the extensions?
Also I'm wondering if using Saran Wrap is similar to direct heat.
*CherryPie* Thanks. I was thinking of doing flat twists for my hair underneath since I can't cornrow, instead of leaving the hair out. I hope to get some use out of the EPRT. Did you leave your real hair out? How many times did you wash?I Agree with @Nonie .
The clip-ons tangle the hair, and sucks the moisture out of the hair....especially in the nape area....and especially natural hair clip-ons. That is the reason I stopped wearing them. I also started getting breakage in the areas where I was clipping the metal clips onto my hair.
I have no solutions. I just stopped using them.
