That need-to-wash-hair smell...

TELL HER.

Look, it could be rubbing off on you!! Not her bad hygeine habits but her FUNK! The smell could sink into YOUR clothes and hair like cigarette smoke if you're in the house too long and YOUR friends will think it's YOU!

This happened to me once. :/ A family member with bad BO left my house and I could still smell it in the house and on my outfit. GROSS! :barf:

:yep:

Or worst is that you will think it's gone away but really you've just gotten used to it.

Do what you would want someone to do to you.

I assume that you would want someone to tell YOU (not errbody else, lol)...even if at first it offended you a little and maybe even caused you to get a little defensive.

I would be straight forward and as "non-mean" as possible.

Nobody's saying be a jerk. Just be grown up. lol.

You have to live with her.
She'll probably be a little rattled, but she'll get over it. She's not four anymore.

Ot: I can't be the only one in this thread thinking about how bad my hair used to smell before my hhj, and wondering if I offended people lol. Thinking the dirt was making my hair grow:nono:

Well, back when I used to use MTG my hair smelled horrible. I didn't really realize it (I have chronic sinus swelling that causes me to smell at about 20%) until my little boy said "what's that smelling like bacon? You put bacon in your hair, Mom? Your hair smells like old bacon".
Lol.
Out of the mouth of babes.
I started wondering who else might have thought the same thing and wished that someone else would have told me that my hair smelled like slaughtered pig.

Have you tried to get the glade plug ins. or the one that automatically sprays every 9 mins or 30 mins? that stuff is wuite strong.

Why not point her to Long Hair Care Forum. It's something every sista needs in her life anyway.

so she can read this thread ? :nono: I think she would feel bad that her roomie put her business out on the internets.

at least now shes anonymous. If she joins and introduces herself as fine_4's roomie then everyone will be like .... oooooh stinky, welcome, did u wash your hair yet?

OP, I'm sorry you are going through this. I know it must be hell. I had a friend who got sew-ins every 3 months and she would only wash her hair every. 3. months. :look: I finally broke down and explained to her that her hair could be washed while in a weave. I even helped her with it until she got the hang of it.

Have you shared the joys of cowashing with her? If she is relaxed or straightens her hair and doesn't want to wet her hair because she likes a sleek look, maybe you can suggest rollersetting or satin scarf braidouts. She can wash her hair regularly and wear those styles without needing heat.

Maybe you can pull a "hey girl! I just got this new shampoo..girl.it makes my hair smell sooooo good my boyfriend said he loves how Fresh and Clean (put extra emphasis on these two adjectives) it makes my hair smell! Feel free to use it anytime girl!" said very smiley and natural...

I would do something like that..I'm good at that type of stuff.

:lachen:lol! This

*cough*

You could tell her..."Um something in here smells like: Old Fish Grease, Chittlin's, Underarms, Booty & Feet!"

All while you're sniffing around the house for the Culprit.

I would tell her. And if I didn't have the nerve, I would get people to come over and say "where is that bad 'I haven't washed my hair in months' smell coming from?". We all have some bold friends like that. In reply you can tell them to smell your hair so that they can acknowledge that it isn't you. She may catch the hint.

SimJam
I used to talk about this site a lot more so who knows if I ever mentioned it to her. When people know you're on here they eventually ask 'what's your screename?' - fair question.

But that's also why I asked not to be quoted [ehem] BlackHairDiva :look:

I know folks hate that about my posts :perplexed

I knew someone would quote even though it's in bold not to looool. Next time do it in bold red.

Perhaps she's not aware of the smell and would appreciate you telling her. Better a close friend tell her than a stranger.

There was a thread on here where some people said their hair doesn't smell after a month without washing it ......She probably doesnt realize she smells bad ..i would tell her a couple of things about hair care ,make her watch YT tutorials or product reviews ...In the meantime Glade Fresh Linen plugs will help.

People have different body chemistries. Some people have foot odor, some people dont. Some people are more prone to get musty than others.

My hair & scalp dont get stinky but I still wash on a regular, once a week.

I had a friend who couldnt air dry her hair in a ponytail or bun not even overnight or it would sour or mold. Ive never had that happen. I guess it partly has to do with hair porosity.

Sorry Fine 4s I didt know you didnt want to be quoted. Sorry. I will re-edit the post and remove the quote.
