Ok, thanks for all the help guys. I rinsed the stuff out and it doesn't seem to have done any harm. My texture feels a bit more defined and my hair is HUGE but that's about it. Doesn't feel dry at all but since I was adviced to DC I'll definitely do it anyways; rather be safe than sorry. No change in hair color though :/ Ugh. Next time I will order online just to be safe, unless they have it in the African store but I doubt they will. Thanks for all the advice!

EDIT: Actually, I do have some curls hangin low in the back. :/ I def wanna henna again (with real henna lol) and try to get some color but I def don't wanna jack my texture up. How long should I wait?

Whew! I'm very happy to hear your henna adventure did not have a bad ending. Never tried it myself but the ladies seem a font of information and helpful tips. I love LHCF!

I love henna and what is does to my hair has never felt and looked better since my first application, covering my gray hair is a major plus. I buy Jamila henna from henna sooq, I only mix mine with warm water and a little bit of Amla powder. I steam DC afterwards for an hour so I have no drying effects.

KiWiStyle - that is what I want is to cover my greys and to strengthen my hair. with the Jamila henna do you have to add the indigo to get the dark color?

Uh oh. I bought it at a beauty store in the mall. They sold weave, wigs, lots of hair products and such, etc. Basically, a 'chinese store'.

OMG!!!! are you sure it is pure henna???? beauty stores never really sell henna or not pure henna anyway.

demlew Or anyone else who is relaxed using henna esp. To cover grey: What is your routine and ingredients? I henna'ed for almost a year and over time my hair was shedding. I am not 100 percent sure it was the henna/indigo/amla mix but since my hair is relaxed and not a fan of protein, I figured it was the henna mix. I followed directions to the detail...ordered everything from mehandi online. Researched and researched. I loved the immediate results...stronger hair. But I think it eventually started breaking/shedding over time. I just recently swore off henna (tried one last attempt last week). I would love to know anyone's routine. I am relaxed ( usually keep a week or 2 between each process) with protein hating hair, and my main goal is to cover grey any suggestions are welcome...btw I did condition (about 1 hr) afterwards and before but maybe I should have conditioned overnight....go figure....please help....I'll miss my henna :-(

onelockatatime - I haven't had success covering greys yet. Luckily, I only have around 10 strands and I've had them since childhood so they don't bother me. I've used various combos, but the greys always remain a coppery auburn color.

As for my routine, I henna every 4-6 weeks (more for conditioning purposes than color). My mix is Nupur henna, coconut cream, coconut milk, and a little molasses or amla if I want a darker tone. I apply henna on freshly washed/damp hair and use a heat cap for around an hour if it's for conditioning or I'll sleep in it if it's for color. I wash it out with Suave or V05 and condition for an hour with Sally's Megasilk.

demlew,
Thank you for the information. Maybe for my last attempt I will incorporate your ingredients. I guess my method was much too drying which was causing breakage.
Thanks again!
