So frustrated. My hair hates those moisturizers that are that lotion consistency, which is nearly all of em. Hates coconut oil and the moisturizers that are the consistency of grease, too heavy. I'm at a total loss as I've been on this board a while and have yet to find a staple moisturizer. Any suggestions?

I always say start with clean clarified or naked hair. Make sure you don't have cone build up. What moisturizers are you using?

FlawedBeauty - try Silk Dreams Waterfalls spritz. It is a blend of aloe vera juice and oils. I use this twice a day on my hair for moisture and seal with a butter or a light oil like jojoba.

i can't use cream based products either. i use liquid moisturizers and seal with a light oil. i use Wave Nouveau moisturizing mist. heavy products or buildup break my hair off like dry tree branches.

Thanks ladies. Right now I'm not really using anything and I have an over abundance of products lol. Everything seems to make my hair feel sand papery except when I just let it dry on its own.

you may just need a refresher to moisturize with. something very light. what i use is very light and dries on contact. if you have a really good conditioner, and leave-in, just use that. some people may not need a lot. i know YT Patience, using nothing but oils for her hair. Jojoba Oil is very light, as well as Grapeseed Oil. coconut oil can sometimes make my hair feel like straw.

how often do you clarify? do you just cowash, or do you use a sulfate? what conditioner are you using for dc'ing?

Perhaps you should PM @Nonie. Something about this sounds like her hair.

darlingdiva, you shole know ma hurr! :giggle:

FlawedBeauty, welcome to my world. For years, I wore braids w/ no product and enjoyed that. But when a SHS went to town on my hair and hacked it all off, I was left with loose hair that was under 3 inches long. I couldn't not moisturize. My friend kindly sent me samples of different products she loved. Creamy ones, oily ones, gels... the only thing that felt good on my hair was S Curl No Drip Activator.

Now before you dismiss my suggestion, I should mention that S Curl applied on damp hair will dry up hard. The solution is to reapply on your now dry hair and then baggy for the night...and you'll have soft, moisturized hair for days. Please read this thread and see all the tips I give on using S Curl and managing 4B hair in general. I also share images of how S Curl changed my mom's hair from parched to moisturized, soft fluffy hair.

What about just leaving in a little conditioner after a wash, using diluted conditioner in a spray bottle, aloe juice, or rosewater?

Hollywood beauty olive creme hairdress, sofnfree milk protien and olive oil moisturizer, or water and conditioner in a spray bottle

thanks for the suggestions everyone. i think im gonna give this s curl and stay so soft stuff a whirl. hittin up the beauty supply store later this week!! :)

komaza califa spray is supposed to be excellent and for more bang for your buck it can be diluted with distilled water is what a few posters swear by.

IDareT'sHair loves several sprays including some ones from claudies revitalizer. i hear that the braid spray is awesome as well.

shortdub78 Do you use the wave nouveau mist first and then seal with a light oil?
The moisturizing mist sounds like a good moisturizer.

Do you just need to moisturize or need a curl definer too? When my hair just needs moisture I either CO wash/spritz water and seal it with olive oil.

everyone always forgets about nature's mositurizer....WATER!:yep:
use some filtered water and maybe a little bit of oil of your choice.....can't go wrong with that.....right?:look:

I completely agree with the KomazaCare Califia Spray. I use it as a leave in and refreshor and Lawdddddddd is it moisturizing. I also dilute mine because its so concentrated. Its def. a good option.

I'm a new S-Curl fan. Also, Mizani Supreme Oil is very lightweight. It consists of 8 different natural oils but I don't believe coconut is one of them. My hair likes lightweight stuff as well but I have a hard time making it last. Supreme Oil I think is a little TOO light for me because I swear it disappears in my skin before it even reaches my hair but maybe you'll like it.

THIS!!!

I can testify that this is the truth:yep:. It like an oasis on a parched desert isle....when my hair starts to feel dry and brittle...this is the only solution.
