Any alternatives to My HoneyChild Type 4 Hair Creme?

So did some twists and did an experiment using all of the various butters, cremes under a leave-in to see what happened. My Honey Child Type 4 just blew everything out of the water.

I got My Honey Child Type 4 on sale at CurlMart, but $25 is $$$$ for me and a hair product. ANY alternatives to the madness?

I want a thick, oil-based moisturizer that can act as a sealant but has moisturizing properties. No glycerin since it's a no for my hair in the winter.

I got so hype and then... no Type 4 hair creme

Please believe even though I'm on a financial diet, I would have whipped out my credit card so quick... Those prices are bomb!

You could 'contact' them and ask if they ever stock it. Have you tried the Honey Hair Creme?

I haven't tried that one! I'll look it up, thank you! I try not to go crazy with my purchases. I probably have dropped like $200 on stuff in the last two months alone

I've had the Honey Hair Creme before and it is a very thick creme and I'm sure very close to the Type 4 creme.

I think it would be worth the $5.00.

It's a very thick BUTTER. Like shea butter mixed with a few oils.

Smells good though.

Really want a creamier oil based moisturizer.

I mean, just to point this out...if you find a cheaper alternative that works as well-great. But I find her hair creams to be SO THICK that you literally only need teeny tiny dabs and those jars last a LONG time. Like I have the...type three creme I think. Have mercy that stuff is thick!

Now it's that cheaper stuff that I run through and have to replace more quickly, and in the end I could have just spent the $25 by the time I pay for multiple jars of the other stuff.

I'm willing to pay about $15 for a product if it's good, but $25 is a grip for some hair creme. I would wait for a sale or something .


On another note, I'm not too crazy about the mint smell so that's another reason why. I like smelling delicious (coconut, vanilla, etc). Not super important... but would be nice to improve on that. I absolutely HATE mint. Reminds me of my mother's hair oils, gag.

oh girl...I don't know lol I don't know of any inexpensive hair cream that's going to give you the bang for your buck with no glycerin.

Oh and...well, oil-based isn't really going to moisturize. You would have to put something underneath and use the oil-based thing on top to seal. In which case...you can just use a regular hair cream and seal with an oil.

Because for something to be oil-based I'm going to assume that it's just something that's been thickened with an emulsifier, which is just a thinner version of a hair butter.

Interesting. I'm not a fan of butters though. It feels like everything that I try has too much shea in them and my hair says to shea. Have to check the ingredients.

Nah, I'm using the oil based creme as a sealant. I'm using a leave-in already as a moisturizer. I've tried butters on top of leave-ins with the twists and they just don't have the same effect as My Honey Child.

About the idea of using a regular hair cream and seal with an oil.... Been there, done that... I don't like it. It doesn't have the same effect. I don't know how to describe it. The oil makes my hair feel greasier. I use castor oil since all other oils are just womp womp (coconut, olive oil... I can't even begin to say how much I do not like shea butter).

My hair is so finicky, SMH. I have the conditioners and shampoos down fine. It's always been the leave-ins and dealing with dry hair that kills my swag.

greight, I applaud you for your search and hope someone can help. But can I just take the thread off course to ask for a pick of you with my honey child? I have type 4 hair and I'd love to see why you're so adament about using it as the number one product. Because I haven't found the product for twist outs and thingsof this sort.

Please if you have a pic of a style, let me see it!
