Does anyone have hair like this?

I thought it was me in your pics, except mine is shorter. So to answer your question, yes. I have hair like that. I cant answer anything else though, cuz i havent mastered it yet. I dont do wng's. I have been doing twist outs every night, which takes forever, and wearing headbands. I cant wait for a little more length.

But I do agree with the person who said to use a butter. I spritz with aloe vera juice, and twist with avocado butter, or QB aethiopika twist butter.

Girl where you been!?!?!?!

I've been here and there. Lurking mostly lol. Life's been hectic but in a good way. :)

BTW yes my crown is like yours only it shrinks more. I tested a new product on my edges just to see how they would react and they actually hung instead of springing up. Going to do my entire head tomorrow and see how it works. :yep:

I like it. Kinda NYC Village look. Very funky and stylish.

Thank you :). Surprisingly, 2 people out of the blue said they liked my hair. One a man the other a woman. The man said it was hip  I'm not quite feeling it but I know that I can make this work if I can just get the styling right.

What is this magical product?

i like the shape of your hair.
it just doesnt look that moisturized. im not sure if its because your texture doesnt shine or if it really isnt moisturized.

i do wash and go styles everyday with just leave in. i dont use gel so i would just say maybe you need a better leave in.
right now im using and loving shea moisture shea butter hair masque as my leave in and ive been getting 3 day hair with it. and i get shine for 2 days lol. i love it. its cheap and you can find it almost anywhere nowa days.
try it.

I'm not sure my profile pic is of a no product wash n go I have other wash n go pics with esg that have curldefinition.

Try wearing your wng hair in a banana clip, solved 99% of my styling woes

Yes, I'm dealing with moisture issues big time which is why I'm swearing off gel for a little while and only using leave ins or moisturizing products in my wash n gos. My hair doesn't really get shiny but it's more dull looking than I would like for sure.

Good question. Some that come to mind:

Donna Maria Super Buttercream
Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
Oyin Whipped Pudding

I have the curl enhancing smoothie at home. I'll try this one tomorrow!

I like the shape and the volume. I can never get that much volume at the top of my head. I just skimmed through the thread but are you incorporating sealing into your regimen? That made a WORLD of difference when it came to my hair not being dry anymore. I seal with my crisco mix (I peddle this stuff like I'm selling crack LOL, but it works soooooo well on my hair. I tell anybody who will listen). It's 3/4 cup aloe vera gel, 1/4 cup crisco, 1 tbsp grapseed oil, 1 tbsp castor oil. I don't even use a leave-in anymore because of this mix.

If you don't feel like mixing all of that, then I def recommend castor oil, grapeseed oil, or crisco as stand-alones for sealing.

ETA: Have you tried a natural gel like flaxseed gel? Not drying at all.

FYI SMCES doesnt give any hold or definition at all, just moisture which will be great for you, but if you are going to use it to twist or on a wash n go (shingling), mix it with eco styler--it will give you a very soft hold. Do 1/2 and 1/2 or 1 part CES to 2 parts gel. If you dont want to do the eco styler, maybe try flax seed or aloe vera gel to mix it with. 1 part CES to 2 parts gel gave me my first successful twist n curl with 3-4 day hair!

Your hair sounds like mine, dry and a sort of dusty brown color that doesnt reflect light much (shine), and when it is well moisturized it feels very cottony soft???? I went through several products before I found the CES and it has been my HG for moisture. My hair was so dry and nothing was working, transitioning became a piece of cake after I started using it. We are besties for life.

PS I think your hair is cute and dont see anything wrong with the shape. As someone else suggested, a side part may give you the look you are going for.

Wow, thanks!!! And yes my hair is dry, a dusty dark brown and is very cottony and coily when well moisturized. You are spot on! I will try this mix that you suggested. I have aloe Vera gel in the fridge

No, I don't seal because ive tried it and it doesn't seem to do much. I haven't tried it with castor oil though.

That's what my hair looked like when it was shorter and I wore it out. I didn't like it so much. As it dried, it kept shrinking until it was a very compact mass and felt very solid. All that hair in a very confined space. I worried throughout the day about tangles.
I don't feel like I have wash and go hair and I refuse to put tons of styling gel in it.
I'm a twists and braids girl. Even when I wear twist-outs or braid-outs, the novelty wears off by early afternoon and I want to braid it back up.

I think you look cute.

Yes!
That's exactly what my hair looked like when it was shorter. LoL
I relied heavily on bobby pins to shape my hair into whatever style fit my face/mood that day.

I liked to pin one side back. I also liked to braid the back into an upward french braid and then pin one side back. Sometimes, I would throw a hump in the front when I wanted to be fancy. Yeah, I didn't/don't have great styling skills. LoL

I dunno that you should cut already though. Maybe you can wait and see how it starts to grow in first.

GL with whatever you decide!

I think we have similar hair. For my wash and gos , after I put conditoner in my hair, and rinse, I shake my head like crazy from side to side and then back and forth. It defines my curls really well. After that I carefully, so as not to disturb the curls, add my leave in and then blowdry with bursts of warm and then cool. ( I have a diffuser attachment) until the curls seem pretty set. If I let them dry natural I get shrinkage and frizz. They last a little bit longer if I use a little gel or curl creme type product. ( I like Jane Carters). Hope I helped.

Update!

So last night I green housed with a little wen, hot six oil, and water, overnight. This morning I cowashed with trader joes tingle conditioner Nd left a little bit in. Here is my hair today

I'm digging it today. I think for my hair the key is moisture plus once it dries a little then I can stretch it a small amount to make it a little funky. I am digging this much better than messing with gel to define my coils. It takes me all of five to ten minutes to get this look and that includes cowashing plus finger detangling.

So I'm not going to get my hair cut. That is on hold for At least another six months.

Ha that hair looks exactly like mine did. I think your hair is cute and I have rocked it like that if shine is what you are looking for then I would suggest Qhemet's Amla oil pomade or really any spray shine.

What I found that worked for me was using Qhemet olive oil and honey then a curl creme and topping it off with something like curl junkie's curls in a bottle.
Then as someone else said using a diffuser my hair can only air dry when it is in twists or braided otherwise it looks funky. Anyway I added a pic so you can see what I ended up with

Your hair is beautiful!! It looks so lush! My hair is this off black/brown color that is dry looking. I only air dry but thanks for the suggestions. I will read up on the products you mentioned. Also, it seems my hair loves oils do I think I will start green housing a few nights a week with an oil thrown in there. My hair was very soft this morning.

Your hair doesn't look off. I like it.

I've only worn a wash and go once, when I was on a cruise ship. I had lots of hang time because my hair was wet all of the damn time. You may just need to experiment with oils, conditioners, and no pooing.

I envy you for being able to do wash and gos. I always have to dry my hair in twists to keep it from tangling during the drying process, but after its dry that I just let my hair do whatever it wants. It becomes a full blown fro 4 days after washing.

I think you may need to just play around and experiment.

Je Ne Sais Quoi

Your hair looks very nice. I'm glad you figured out what your hair needs. When I was natural and wearing hair the same way at night I would stretch it with bands and then wear a shower cap to bed and then in the morning spritz, fluff and go. Sometimes its not a cut or a shape that we need, sometimes its just a little stretch.

Thank you ladies. I think it's an internal thing but today i was much more excited about it. 3 compliments today which was shocking. I think i'll be rocking this one for quite some time and just might be saying bye bye to gel for this type of style.
