My hair is acting a straight HAM lately. It is just rebelling against everything. I have no idea what to do. I posted maybe a week or 2 ago about an itchy scalp and some thought my co washing was the culprit. I love co washing so I didn't stop that. I just started to shampoo twice a week instead of once (just my scalp of course) That has subsided but now it seems like my hair cannot get moisturized for the life of me! My hair isn't really dry...YET. My leave in's are getting me by. But it seems like conditioners are just sitting on top of my hair and doing nothing. Before my hair would feel so soft under the water as the conditioner was rinsing out. Now it feels a little rough sort of like the conditioner just sat on the surface and then slid off. Does that make sense? I already used a clarifying shampoo and my hair is still laughing at my conditioners.

My staple conditioners are Suave cheapies (usually Ocean Breeze since I love the smell) and Aussie Moist. My hair used to love Aussie Moist! I thought my hair just got used to them so after reading a few threads I went out and bought HE Hello Hydration. A whole liter! It was on sale. And it actually left my strands feeling dry and rough. :nono:So now that it doesn't work what the heck am I supposed to do with this? Do you think it will work if I mix with water and oils and use as a leave in? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do for my hair? I would like to try to fix this before my hair loses all moisture. is it just a phase?

I clarified when I realized my conditioners weren't working. That was on Monday and I just did a co wash and still nothing. In my other thread someone mentioned ACV rinse too. Lilmama1011 When should I do it, how often? I know this will help my scalp but will it help my hair as well? Where can I get Apple Cider Vinegar. I live in NYC (Brooklyn) so no Walmart - boooooo! lol

My hair doesn't like Hello Hydration either, so I gave it away to my sister. I can only suggest as others have to clarify your hair followed by deep conditioning, for at least a few hours. See how that helps

They sell apple cider vinegar in the supermarket...it doesn't need to be Braggs, but if you want that kind, you can always go to one of the many health food stores in BK. There's one on Remsen St, in downtown BK right down the block from the NYSC, and across from the court houses.

Oh I didn't know health food stores would carry them. I'll go to the one by my house tomorrow on 7th Ave and see what they have. Thanks.

Is your water too hot? My hair doesn't like to be washed (cowash or shampoo) with hot water, nowadays I use a very warm, pleasant temp instead of steamy hot. My hair was acting like yours is now before I adjusted. Try showering on a slightly cooler temp than what you are used to even if you don't think the water is too hot and see if that helps. And don't rinse your hair with too cold of water either (unless that works for you). I go for something a lil above room temp when I rinse.

Random: I add safflower oil to my conditioner and it's awesome :D try adding your favorite oil to your conditioners!

Oh! and I can't rub condish on my scalp like shampoo when I cowash, it super irritates it. I rinse my scalp and hair really under the warm water and then I only apply the condish on the length of my hair. I shampoo like...1-2x a week. Hope your hair feels better soon :(

ooooh and *puts on product pusher hat* you should try Infusium 23 Moisture Replenisher conditioner :D my hair hates Herbal Essences Hello Hydration too!! Aussie Moist conditioner is a no go as well (my hair loves the 3 min miracle though). Left my hair feeling like straw after a few washes.

if you try the Infusium 23 conditioner, make sure it has the number 2 on it, 1 is the shampoo, 3 is the leave-in :3

smells really good, works very well on my hair :D they have small and big sizes. and their deep treatment is awesome

I was actually eyeing this the other day. I think I want to try it. But I am so miffed now that I have that liter of HE HH. Do you think trying it as diluted leave in when I bun would be ok?

KammyGirl Honestly, if something doesn't work for my hair or my hair just straight up hates it, I don't try to find ways to use it on my hair b/c I'm afraid of setbacks. I would hate for you to try to use it as a leave-in and end up messing up your progress. I use conditioners that my hair dislikes as shaving cream :3 so this way it isn't going to waste, but it also isn't going on my hair lol

Ha! Wonderful idea!:yep: Thanks!

my hair hates HH too. my hair hated it so much that it gave me a headache along with making my hair act a hot mess. i agree with KammyGirl, don't use products on your hair that it doesn't like. period.

i suggest diluting 1 tbsp of ACV with 8 oz of water. after you shampoo and deep condition with heat, make your final rinse the ACV.

see how that works.

Try Olive Oil replenishing conditioner. Leave it on for an hour with a cap. Your hair will feel like butter. My hair does not like those cheap drug store conditioners. They do nothing at all.

Hello hydration made my hair feel hard and rough and gave it no slip. All HE shampoos and conditioners make it feel this way

You could simply have low porosity hair .
HH Has tons of cones in it .

I have been watching youtube videos and trying to figure this out ever since this started. I personally, have never bothered with wondering about porosity or cones or anything. I sort of just tried things until my hair was happy. But now I think I should really find out. Is it possible for your porosity to change or am I making stuff up?
