Always thinking about my next hairstyle.
I'm on my HHJ journey. I've nailed my reggie, I see progress, and people are taking notice. I am a self professed PJ. I love trying new products, and I'm always looking for the next best thing. Some of us strive to keep it simple, others revel in the process. My reggie consists of tea rinses, several supplements (silica, MSM, collagen, fish oil, krill oil, biotin just to name a few) henna and other ayurvedic powders. I am relaxed but, use a combination of natural online brands (Shescentit, Hairveda, Silk Dreams, Darcy's) and popular commercial brands such as Herbal Essence and Neutrogena. More and more often friends and family notice the health of my hair and ask what do you use? As if it's one thing. I want to help but, nobody except you ladies on LHCF care about all the products and steps in my reggie.

What is you 30 second hair pitch? What do you say when people ask in earnest what do you use on your hair to make it grow/shine/bounce and otherwise captivate in a short concise manner that does not make their eyes glaze over?

I just say "I keep it moisturized and I try not do damage it by using too much heat and I get regular trims to keep split ends away" Sometimes I add that I do regular deep conditions. Usually thats enough for them to keep it moving but if they are into hair then they ask more questions and I let them know I use mostly natural products that i order online (DB, shescentit, hairveda) and I rollerset my hair everyweek to keep it striaght and preventing flat iron damage.

I say that I deep condition often, and try to keep my hair moisturized. Usually, the person is too busy looking for extensions or tracks to even listen to that one sentence.

I had a coworker ask me today what I oil my scalp with. I usually turn it around and tell them what ingredients to stay away from... mineral oil, lanolin, petroleum etc... I could tell she wasnt trying to do that much work to use the right oils so she just smiled and keeped it to moving...#kanyeshrug

If I see that the person is really interested I always refer them to this forum but if not I just tell them to dc often and limit poo:)

I like this question :)

If the person is serious, I go over my whole routine; which is DC, protective styling like braid-outs, stretching my relaxers, co-washing, bagging and the protein/moisture balance.

But if they just want an easy answer or wasting my time (like my sister), I just tell them it's genetics :)

If someone is serious, I will give them my regimen and products, and suggest a regimen and products for them to use. I did this with my bff and she went from badly damaged, barely ear length relaxed, to a full, thick healthy SL natural in a little over a year. I can't wait to see her hit BSL+, although I don't think she's even thinking that far ahead.

If they just want a quick answer I say I just wash and condition and trim my ends. You can usually tell which answer they're looking for by the way they ask.

Usually I just tell people that I stopped using shampoo, and only use co-cleansers like Wen & Deva-Curl No Poo. Lol, or my DH will cut me off and tell people it's way too complicated (it's not. He just thinks it is, because of all the kitchen mixology), and to not bother asking me.

I always tell ppl to wash their hair and deep condition once a week. I start there bc most ppl don't do that. Also find products that work for them and stick to it and stay away fr too much heat. Those that are really interested don't really use too much heat but they wash infrequently an use crappy products.

I say that sometimes. My sister thinks I use one product that works. I try to explain, but she doesn't want hair stay away from heat. It's a process. Some don't understand that.

Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. Heat Damaged. :look:

But seriously my hair is BSB natural with heat damage. :lachen:

(I'll be back later with a serious reply)

When I get to that point I will just say use Wen once a week. even though I dont use mine that much, (its kinda my emergency hair therapy product) I feel if they use it one a week it might catch up/fight all the damage their doin to their hair. Idk it might work

i tell them i visit a lot of different hair blogs, boards and youtube and have tried a few different things that work for me but overall i like to keep it simple

i have also given people this address

Moisturize with water based product and seal, limit heat, and protect your ends. If you don't do any of the above, don't bother.

I try to explain, give up. Then write down longhaircareforum.com and justgrowalready.com on a piece of paper. If they care they'll check it out.

condition/wet my hair twice a week in the summer (sometimes winter) hair is like a plant keep it moist away from too much heat (unless its a cactus :lachen:)
and it will grow.If they are relaxed i ask how often they relax. natural oils balance protein and moisture OR i just wright down the site if they REALLY want to know they will do the research... i did:grin:
