Devachan is a salon and styling technique created by Lorraine Massey that's supposed to work well for curly hair. I believe they cut the hair curly in its natural state. The Devacurl products are from the same company.

I didn't even know Hair Rules did a cut. Can't help you there.

What might be helpful is to do a search on yt. I know there are ytbers that have had cuts at DevaChan and they show the results. From the videos I have seen they have been very happy with the results.

Perhaps you can find some videos on yt on Hair Rules as well.

I know there are some ladies on the board that have had Deva Cuts but I have not seen any that have had a cut from Hair Rules.

I am going to get a Deva Cut next weekend but not at Deva Chan. If you are looking for something after that, I will be glad to give you an update when I get back.

That's all I got. Sorry.

I have 4a hair and got a devacut last October and I liked it. I never researched hair rules.

Sorry for hijacking but quick question. Is it growing out well? And do you think you will need another trim anytime soon?

Thanks for replying. I'd like to know how your hair was afterwards as well.

Hair Rules is newer but a friend of mine had her hair cut by Dickey himself.

I heard Dickey charges a minimum of $250 for a cut. Is it worth it?

..... I'm gonna go with heck no. I deliberate over paying $10 for conditioner lol so a $250 haircut is a little out of my budget. I wonder if all his stylists cost that much

@faithVA
I like the way it is growing out and how it looks after it dries and shrinks up. I trimmed/dusted in April and will probably need another trim soon, but I don't think I need another shape-up anytime soon.

The first pic is right after the cut in October and the second one is from a few days ago, both dry hair.

That's a lot of growth. Have you been wearing WNGs or are you twisting and doing twist outs most of the time.

Thank you. I don't even think the hair is growing much, but I guess Viviscal is working :lol:. I was considering giving them to a friend because I wasn't sure what they were doing.

I have done twist/braid outs three times and never left the house with it in that style. I want to eventually get there so I am still practicing how to do them. I have been wearing mainly WNGs and in the last few weeks, bunning.

I've had both cuts and the Hair Rules cut was to correct my Devachan cut. Basically the hair in the back of my head was left way too long and what would of eventually happened would have been a mullet. The shape of my fro was odd! The first two pics are of my hair after the Devachan cut. You can see the long pieces hanging in the back. The last pics are after the correction. All the stylist at Hair Rules do not charge the same as Dickey so you may want to double check the prices.
