I've been using the gel with the smoothie for about 5 mos now and it's wonderful. I only have to put the product in on wash day and I'm good for the rest of the week (just spray my hair with water every morning)...it also gives a really defined twistout (see pic in siggy)

yep thats what I do, apply smoothie then souffle. I got a full week out of my wash & go doing that. I love the combo of these products. just be very light with how much souffle you apply.

Love it! My mistake was trying it on wet hair. Yuck. It works best on slightly damp or even my dry hair. For my 2 strand twist out, I put a little smoothie on it and layer it with an even smaller amount, tip of my finger, souffle. Results: soft, moist twists with a lil hold. If you use to much souffle you will get a greasy, tacky mess. Use the souffle glaringly, at least for my porous 4ab hair. My hair does stay moist for days.

Hmm, so I hear if you overuse it gets sticky and tacky but on top of the smoothie it is golden huh? Right now I am using Let's Jam on top of the smoothie and I have to say - I had at least 3 random people at work approach me (one called me out of a meeting) to compliment me on my hair and ask me what I had in it. :-)

Does it compare to kinky curly curling custard? I'm thinking about buying it.

Well, I tried to use it like the custard. Uh, no. Lol. It is too greasy for that. Like for a wng I glop a large amount if custard on very damp, almost wet hair. Great. I couldn't use the souffle like that. I glopped the souffle on my curls and got shiny, semi firm, GREASY hair. I use the souffle to kind of set the smoothie and lock in moisture. I seriously use less than half a pea size amount for each 2 strand twists (my hair is SL/apl)-enough just to coat the tip of my finger. I haven't tried the wng with souffle again because my wng has to start on really damp hair and for me the souffle doesn't work well ongot wet/very damp hair. I can't touch my spirals/z's after they start to dry or they frizz up.

Jam is less expensive. Do you use a lot when I styling? I wouldn't fix what ain't broken.

How do you use the Jam Custard because that was also a hot mess on my head, my curls were defined but wet/sticky. I think I like hard/crispy curls because I know how to make them soft but I cant find out how to make sticky/wet curls hard.

My stylist used the smoothie on my hair on Saturday. On Sunday morning I wet my hair in the shower and put the Let's Jam on it because I did not have the smoothie. I sectioned it in fours, and took about a TB size for each section and worked it through. Put a towel on it to catch the drippies while I dressed and voila!

I went to work on Monday - Wednesday and literally got stopped by multiple people asking me how I defined my hair. I figured if they had a gel to work with the smoothie perhaps that would give better results as I figure they should be made to work together no? But I do not need sticky hair.

I mix the souffle with the smoothie and use it on damp hair. I seal with grape seed oil. My hair stays moist for at least 5 days. If you use too much souffle your hair will feel coated and tacky.

my hair hasnt felt sticky/tacky from it. i use a very little bit.

i like lets jam too but the souffle makes my hair super curly & defined which i like. lets jam doesnt do that for me

Good idea mixing the two. I might try that.

I've tried both the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and the Souffle. The Souffle on its own doesn't work for me. It leaves my hair a bit sticky (which fades when it dries), and with definition, but not moisturized or with any sheen. Conversely, the smoothie left my hair very well moisturized, and somewhat less definition which faded really quickly. I should note that I didn't use any other products (no leave-in) the first time trying both the smoothie and the souffle.

I saw a YT video that recommended mixing them together, so I did so (1:1) a few weeks ago with good results. My hair was very moist and soft the entire week, but the definition was still not what I was looking for. I think that mix would be good for someone doing a twistout or braidout after a few days of twists/braids, so that there is more time for the style to set.

Based on the feedback here I think I will forego trying the souffle and stick with the Let's Jam since it is working for me. Thanks everyone!!!!

I use it as my staple twist setter. Use it over a leave in or sometimes mix with a stronger hold gel if I want my style to stay defined for the whole day.

I prefer puffy twistouts so I use this to get slight hold and softness.

also agree with the previous posters that over use = tacky mess
