Babaaaay I done went ol' school press n' curl! My hair is soft, shiny, has body for days and NOT GREASY!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. It is not greasy at all.

This Blue Magic has only 3 ingredients: Petrolatum, Coconut Oil and Fragrance. It cost $2 and it does better than any serum/spray I've ever used. I needed something heavy for my kinky hair and man it worked.

My hair hero! Any heat protectant? What kind of blow dryer do you use? I love both pictures and especially the shine.

I have some of this in my stash. How did you get your results please tell us the steps. Details :0). I would like to know for whenever I straighten my hair.

Its so shiny! and bouncy looking  Grease when used the right way, it is bomb for straightening :yep:

Honestly I have tried some of the expensive serums and my hair does not get straight without some kind of grease or oil. I've been using a generous amount of avacado oil mixed with my serum and getting great results. When I just used the serum my hair wasn't getting really straight and it was reverting like crazy! Thanks for sharing my sis just picked some of this up so I will be checking it out. btw your hair is gorgeous.

@NappyNelle
Before blowdrying I applied a skittle-sized amount of Fantasia IC heat protectant serum to each of my four sections I had.

My blowdryer is old and nothing special. It's a cheap vidal sasson I got from walmart and it works perfectly fine. I used the nozzle concentrator and the tension method.

#1 Washed, conditioned, and deep conditioned with with Silk Elements Moisturizing Olive Shampoo, Conditioner, and Deep Conditioner (I didn't deep condition long...maybe 5 minutes)

#2 Detangled in the shower with a jilbere shower comb with the deep conditioner in (I had to make sure the hair was fully detangle)

#3 Once I rinsed, I sectioned the hair in 4 sections, added a teeny (and I mean teeeeeeny) bit of Taliah Waajid the great detangler and Fantasia IC.

*My hair dries up too fast and if I don't add any product it will get dry and become hard to separate. So I personally need some sort of light moisturizer to make sure I'll be able to blowdry my hair smoothly. I don't use too much or my hair will revert.

#4 Blowdry each section using the tension method. I use a wide vent brush to brush through my hair while blowdrying. My brush looks like this:

It works so well.

#5 To flatiron I make sure the sections are very thin. I put a little of the BMCO on the section (especially focusing on the root), brush it through with a denman brush, tap the root with the flatiron a few times, then proceed to flatiron slowly with a tension comb:

That's it!!

But there is also something apart of my technique that helps too. when using the flatiron, I flip my wrist to draw a little more tension on the hair while flatiron it. I can't describe it but it really straightens the hair well.

Oh, and I don't use a lot of grease. That's the key.

I was so scared to use this but NOTHING was working for me. My hair is very thick and I wanted something that would lay it down for an effective flat iron.

I thought back to my childhood days and remembered that although my hair was always shiny and beautiful press n' curl style, the heat used on my hair was uncontrolled and my folks used too much grease. That ultimately burned my hair (especially since the stove irons weren't tested prior to straightening).

I told myself I would revisit it but make sure I don't use a lot of the grease and that the heat is controlled via a decent temp. It worked very well. I love it!

When I get home from work later today I'll post more pics. They really don't do it justice though.

Have you made any youtube videos?

Unfortunately no.

Nice, got anymore pics?? What kind of flatiron did you use?

I'll post some more pics later today. As far as the flatiron goes, it's cheap as well. Nothing to write home about. It's a babyliss pro something, not the expensive kind though lol. I'll post a pic later as well.

I plan on updating to an FHI eventually but for now I'm content.

Beautiful. I never slept on grease when I was a long haired natural. I could stretch my presses up to 6 weeks with this stuff :look:

That is the exact grease I put on my hair before my current set of braids, worked like a charm. I bought it as opposed to others because it only has three ingredients. I will try using it for my next blow dry. Thanks for posting your results!

I wonder how this would work on fine haired naturals? It takes next to nothing to weigh my hair down.

OP your hair is :notworthy

@MissAlinaRose

Lovely hair! Have you ever used pure coconut oil when straightening?

I find that to be one of my must have additives to my DC for super silky hair.
westNDNbeauty
No I haven't used coconut oil at all. I tried coconut oil for sealing my ends once and I hated it. Never used it again. However, being that it is the second ingredient in this product, I think it really helped my straightening process.

I kept hearing that oil/grease would "fry" the hair with heat, but I didn't experience that at all.

Your hair looks so thick and luscious! Do you pin curl at night to keep the style up?
thaidreams
:yep: That's the only way I've been preserving my hair at night and it's still nice and bouncy every morning for the take down. Love

To be honest I don't know. I think if your hair is fine, it should be able to straighten a little easier with LHCF recommended serums and/or heat protectant sprays. One spray that I still think is darn good is Silk Elements Olive Spray (not sure the name per se but it's in a green bottle).

But as for my hair, thick THICK afro textured hair, those things don't work and need assistance. I wanted something with a little heavier consistency to aid in my straightening process which is what this product did for me. If your hair gets weighed down fast, don't try this at home lol

FYI Ladies, I am certainly not recommending grease to straighten. I just want to show you guys how it worked for me. If your hair is thick and kinky like mine, you probably know that straightening is often done in vain. This is something that actually WORKED after different times of trying.

If you are thinking about using this, use with caution and make sure the heat is not hiked up. You shouldn't hear sizzle or anything like that, and it shouldn't be a lot of grease. You hands should not be greasy at all when running your fingers through. Little dabs on the root and on the length of the section before combing through and straightening. The grease should be evenly distributed--a small amount nonetheless.

And, if you're not into grease check out the Silk Elements heat spray (green bottle<---very nice) and Fantasia IC serum (pink/reddish bottle). I use small amounts of each of these products for different things and they work good too.
