This is odd to say the least. I was just looking at OhValarie's "mind blowing" potion update and wondering how it is that people continue to be swindled. smh...

So there will be an up roar when people hop on the next product train because their hair will fall out since they stopped using this product. I read some of the comments and people are using this on their children's hair smh. This is gonna get ugly.

You know what I find the most interesting about situations like this? There are folks that will still spend their money on this, even after learning the truth. And it is the truth when you read the ingredients on the "creators" website and she admits herself on FB that she is combining ready made products to create her own. There are still people who will Stan for her, say you are hating for bringing this up, claim you are running some kind of smear campaign against her, blah blah blah.

Are we really so obsessed with getting that waist length hair that we will throw any and everything on our hair and scalp? It's worth risking our health and possibly our lives? And yes it could affect your life because minoxidil is a drug with for real side effects. You gonna mess yourself up trying to add on some extra inches of hair??? I am so baffled. I just don't get it.

^did she say she's using a bss cholesterol product too? Mixing chemicals is not something to take lightly. You never know what chemical reactions could go on if you don't do the appropriate research.

There's someone of fb collecting coins to buy it. smh.

I think the Worst part about that is that Minoxidil doesn't even grow your hair!! (ask me how I know :nono:) You'd need a derm cocktail to really catch some growth. All that regular minoxidil is going to do is mess up your hair, and make it fall out when you're done taking it....all while exposing yourself to major health risks. Lovely! :nono:

I'm confused. What is this person doing wrong? Natural products are suppose to have ingredients you can pronounce and know what they are correct? If your product says FGHJTUIOBNMON#5 than this is a synthetic man made chemical right?

21OHKHuc6GL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

I pay $5-$7 dollars for this about every other month. All of these ingredients I can buy and mix together :yep: Should this company be sued as well?

Castor oil, Coconut oil, Beeswax, Castorwax, Soybean Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate and Tocopherol (Vitamin E).

Minoxidil was first used exclusively as an oral drug (with the trade name 'Loniten') to treat high blood pressure. However, it was discovered to have an interesting side effect: hair growth.

Minoxidil may cause increased growth or darkening of fine body hairs, or in some cases, significant hair growth. When the medication is discontinued, the hair loss will return to normal rate within 30 to 60 days.

Upjohn Corporation produced a topical solution that contained 2% minoxidil to be used to treat baldness and hair loss, under the brand name Rogaine in the United States and Canada, and Regaine in Europe and the Asia-Pacific.

Treatments usually include a 5% concentration solution that is designed for men, whereas the 2% concentration solutions are designed for women.

So just like Latisse (for your eyelashes) when you stop using it, your hair sheds and returns to it's normal hair growth or loss.

no, b/c they are not mixing ready to wear commercial products together and profiting from it.

and they're using something that requires FDA approval either.

and they're listing the ingredients in full. what she's doing is unethical and illegal.

it's not the same as mixing raw ingredients to make you own product for sale. i don't know why ppl are having a hard time getting the issue

There was a pic of the ingredients that I can no longer find. It was LeKair. Also, the ingredient list page on the website now lists a warning about minoxidil that I do not recall seeing on Friday. Damage control. Buuuut, folks can do what they wanna I suppose. :ohwell:

I don't know the business owner or the product :nono: and If I'm missing something please tell me. I think this is the same thing every hair care, skin care, make up, weave company is doing....mixing together other peoples products to give you their product, right?

This goes in your infants mouth :yep: Anything you put in or on your body COULD have a possible side effect.

Here is the side effect list for Tylenol for INFANTS.

Constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; excitability; headache; trouble sleeping; upset stomach.

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); dark urine; difficulty urinating or inability to urinate; fast or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; mood or mental changes; seizures; severe dizziness, lightheadedness, or headache; severe drowsiness; stomach pain; tremor; vision changes; yellowing of skin or eyes.

The FDA does not approve cosmetics/hair care/skin care etc :nono:

Mixing ready to wear? Listing the ingredients in full????????

BraunSugar

Can you please explain to me what this person was doing that was any different than any other business?

Disclaimer: I do NOT have any affiliation with the business owner or his/her product:nono:

Please explain what this means. The product I listed uses castor oil, soybean oil, Vit E, etc. I know the company is not making their own inhouse castor oil, soybean oil, vit e, etc. so what is the difference?

Unless she is using a product base, she cannot take another companies formula which already exists, and use it in her own product. She is taking multiple products which already have been formulated as their each individual brand, and combining them to make "something different". You can do that at home, but you can't take someone else's formulations and use them as your own. If they were all natural ingredients purchased separately then okay. If they were bases, then okay. Anything else you can't do.

I had a few more questions but I've decided not to pursue this. It seems as though for some unspoken reason, emotions are high in this thread. What I highlighted is what I was go to ask about but ok.

Okay for those of you who don't understand the issue... Imagine that I am trying to create a new fashion line of quality clothing.

Scenario 1: I go to the department store and buy some other brand sweaters and when I get home I remove the logos and tags. I then sew on my own tags and labels, add my own special personalizations & sell it online saying "homemade, quality knit sweaters, 100% cotton, stylish, finest materials warm and comfortable." To make it extra "homemade" I remove the buttons from the sweater and add new buttons that I got off of a different sweater brand.

Scenario 2: I go to a fabric store or a place to get bulk fabrics and buttons & make my own sweaters however, I make them in a very similar style to the ones that were in the department stores. And advertise them as "homemade, quality knit sweaters, 100% cotton, stylish, finest materials warm and comfortable"

In scenario 1 I was taking something that wasn't mine and tweaking it so it looked like mine. I can't just take one sweater and the buttons from another one, put them together, add my own label and say "look y'all im a fashion designer". Thats the same way that she can't take lekair cholesterol and rogaine & be like look y'all I created my own hair line of products.

In scenario 2 I went to a fabric shop and bought the supplies in bulk & made them myself. Scenario 2 can be considered "home made" without an issue. In the same way, this lady could look at the ingredients from the lekair cholesterol & whip up her own cholesterol mix to use in her products. While she is technically using the same ingredients as a regular commercial product this is still better than her taking a jar off the shelves of a BSS and mixing some oils and saying its hers.

Basically what I'm saying its fine to create a knock off and call it your own design, but don't go snatching up some designers clothes saying oh yes i made this on my own.

what are you still having a problem understanding? she used rogaine (a product which contains a drug that requires FDA approval), leklaire's cholesterol, and fruit of the earth aloe vera gel as ingredients in her product. 3 ready to wear, commercial brands. that's illegal.

i posted a pic of the stuff she used to mix it up thread.

if you look at her mixing vid, you can clearly see the set up for this pic at the 45 second mark.

you can see it in the back ground att 45 secs

Wow, she didn't even try to hide it.

@myfriend She is not mixing natural ingredients together. She's mixing formulas with other formulas plus single ingredients. LeKair has a whole list of things in it as does Rogaine. Ingredients in either one of those can mix and cause a chemical reaction, creating something unsafe and untested. A lot of other things could happen. Besides being unsafe she is reselling another companies product as her own.

Yes :clapping: @ the bolded.

How do people not understand that?! I mean lets say I take some Qhemet Biologics Heavy Cream and mix it with water, Crisco, Monistat and Acutane (I couldn't think of another product :look:) and had the nerve to sell it, would y'all be ok with that? Heck no! And what she's doing is no different.
