A protein treatment define and stretch my curls? I think i need to try a wash n go after the protein treatment.

My best guess is that the protein treatment helps your hair do retain more moisture, causing your hair to be more hydrating allow your curls to hang more and be more defined.

Dehydrated hair tends to shrink and bush out more.

Have you tried doing a moisture treatment after your protein treatment and then doing a WNG? Just curious.

If i use moisture afterwards i lose the curls.

Perhaps it is the weight/coating of the protein allowing your curls to stretch a bit more?

hmm interesting @faithVA i find the opposite is true for me, when my hair is moisturized well the curls are the tightest and shrinks up the most.

Just going by what is possibly the case for her.

Most natural materials when filled with water will stretch out/expand and as the water evaporates or dissipates it then begins to shrink up due to loss of water. I am just suggesting in her case this is probably what is happening and that the protein treatment is helping her hair to hold onto the water.

Ok with this theory i should able to put a leavein in and set, because it sounds like my hair perfectly balance after the protein but adding more moisture throws it out of whack.

Based on this theory you would need to lock in that moisture. How you do that would take some trial and error. If you already have a good sealing regimen start with that.

Some people need to just a leave-in then seal with oils and/or butters.
Some people just seal with oil. Some with oil and butter. Some gels, some creams. Some just use conditioner.

But the goal at this point is that now you have gotten the water in, to keep it in as long as possible.

But it really will vary with your hair's characteristics.

I'm not sure. You didn't share much about your hair in the OP.

1. Do the strand test on freshly washed hair (without the baking soda). Place it in a glass of room temperature water. Low Porosity hair tends to float for most people for days.

I haven't done this test but others have. There is a Low Porosity Support Forum which shares other's experiences.

Low Porosity hair TENDS to

1. Have difficulty absorbing product especially heavy creams and butters.
2. Take a while to get wet
3. Be resistant to some chemical processes
4. Be hard to moisturize but holds it well once it gets it.
5. Be protein sensitive

Oksy, sorry for the delayed response, I had an chemist moment for my hair. So, I have done the strand test and my hair floated, My hair takes at least 8 hours to dry and water beads on top of the hair but once wet it is soaking to the putting of wringing out water "the only time my porosity change was doing a Cherry Lola Treatment and my hair dried within 2 hours", my ends can NEVER get moisturized "too matter what products", and I am protein sensitive even when I was relaxed "the strongest I could take was the Motions CPR". So Friday night I mixed Henna, Bentonite, ACV, Honey, Grape Seed Oil, a touch of baking soda,Yogurt, and Coconut Milk and rinsing my hair felt hard but defind so I didn't DC but used a leave-in, sealed with oil and applied a butter. This morning my ends were dry, just apply Let's Jam Custard and re-seal with Curls Pomade. Now normally my mix with Henna I do not contain coconut milk and my hair normally is soft after the treament. Coconut milk is protein but I didn't think it was as strong as Nutriess which left my hair soft, and Brown Butter Babassu Deep Conditioner which left my hair soft. I hope I am making sense.:spinning:
