So I mixed this combination in a blender and applied it to my hair, and kept it on for 2 hours, or maybe a little bit more.

I washed it off after maybe 2 and a half hours, and my hair feels weird. i don't know how to explain it. It feels rigid and hard. Is this normal? I don't do this often maybe twice a year.

This sounds like a medium to heavy protein treatment. Did you follow it up with a moisture DC?

ITA with Americka. Using an egg on the hair is considered a hard protein. I think you should do a deep condition.

Avocado is also a protein, it has the highest amount of protein than any other fruit. This sounds like protein overload. You should DC with a moisturizing DC to get your hair back to normal.:yep:

And leaving this treatment on for 2 1/2 hours? No. 30 minutes is the recommended max for protein treatments.

I had protein overload from exactly this mix (and another one from yogurt). The only natural strengthening thing that doesn't give me problems is coconut milk.

Conditioner didn't work anymore and I was full of tangles, it felt like exactly like velcro and I saw breakage. 2 things worked:

1) the first one worked just partially. I applied a moisturizing deep conditioner on dry hair (AO White Camellia) without manipulating too much, and I deep conditioned with heat (plastic cap + heat cap or plastic cap + blowdrier) for 30 minutes, then rinsed and kept a moisturizing conditioner on my hair and air dried sealing with an oil. I kept it in a few braids to avoid manipulation since it tangled upon itself and was more fragile. I bunned the braids during the day.

Keeping it wet or cowashing twice a day or going to sleep with conditioner was another idea I had, but it was useless.

2) this really worked!: Chicoro's prepoo.

There is something about aloe juice + oil that makes it really penetrate. Aloe juice, not gel. I did it every third day until my hair felt right. I bought a big bottle of aloe juice and some oil (olive can do), 2 spray bottles and I kept spraying them whenever my hair felt dry again (very often).

I avoided protein treatments for 3 months.
Then I went back to using my favourite ones (coconut milk or Aubreys GPB once or twice a month).
I hope it helps!

Thanks Ladies, I didn't know this was considered too much protein, and I thought I washed it off too quickly. Shows you how much I know about hair care. The only moisterizer I have in the house is Frizz ease night serum which says on the back that it puts moisture in your hair. Is this sufficient or do I definitely need to get out and get a proper moisteriser to deep condition?

No, Frizz Ease will not do. You don't have any moisturizing conditioners? If not, then you need to go get a moisturizing DC.

Honey + EVOO mixed into a protein free conditioner can work as a moisturizing DC.

Baby food bananas mixed with that is very moisturizing.

IA, don't use the Frizz Ease.
