I have recently re-joined LHCF. Same 'ole story, I got all of this knowledge...thought that I knew it all...let my subscription run out and one year later my hair is SHORTER than when I first joined.:nono: I experienced alot of breakage for a number of reasons - bad relaxers, too much heat, stress, scalp issues. Okay, I am back to my heathly hair growth regine and I would like is a better deep conditioner. Now, I like the ORS replenishing pak, but I know better conditioners are out there. For those of you who liked ORS, what did you find that worked better?

BTW - The deep conditioners from HairVeda, BeeMine, and SheaMoisture did not work. My hair just laughed at them. It was like putting water in my hair.

Welcome back!

My hair is extremey dry and picky, and these three are the best that I've tried. They leave my hair very soft, happy and moisturized. :)

- Camille Rose SOYlicious
- Camille Rose Jansyn Moisture Max
- Silk Dreams Vanilla Silk Cream Moisture Dream

:lick:

Do you have a steamer?

hyped up regular conditioner works. I would add oils and other goodies to them. such as. . .olive, coconut castor, black strap molasses, butters(mango, shea) essential oils(rosemary, tea tree, eucalyptis, lavendar, bergamot)

I've discovered for myself, that a deep conditioner is just a matter of the time I leave it on. However, I LOVE it and never intend to stray.

I equally love Silicon Mix. TO DIE FOR! leaves your hair sooo freaking smooth. I haven't tried it since I went natural though.

I have nothing to add by a plea for you to sell me that bee mine your hair hated. Good luck and happy shopping! I'm natural and home made oil/yogurt conditioners work best for me

i love aubrey's j.ay, gbp, and honeysuckle rose these can be be picked up for the best price at vitacost.com, vitamin shoppe and luckyvitamin.com. health food store have this line but its much more expensive. have you tried using a conditioner over night on damp or dry hair and then washing the next day. sometimes i add extra oils, coconut milk, aloe vera juice/gel, or molasses to it and make a pre-poo.

Alter ego hot oil garlic treatment.
I started my hair journey with the ors but it would always leave a residue on my scalp, and I wasnt a fan of the orange smell(it was awesome for detangling though).

Hmmmm....thanks ladies. I forgot to add that I have tried Silicon Mix and I already have Aubrey's HSR (I am trying to be a reformed product junkie). Hated the silicon mix and my friend QUICKLY took it off my hands.

Sorry BlairXo I gave the beemine to my sister who is natural.

Can the alter ego garlic treatment be used as a separate treatment or as a dc?

The Vanilla Slik Cream Moisture Dream seems wonderful and at $10 I would like to try it but the to my the ingredients look scary or they could be complete normal.

Good suggestions. I was even motivated to go to the shescenit website and I almost placed an order for the two trial sizes of the banana and avocado conditioners...then I saw the $7.45 shipping costs!!!!! Still thinking about it though...

Both Stearyl Alcohol and Cetyl Alcohol are fatty alcohols that are derived from oils. They're good for the hair and help to moisturize plus help to give conditioner its consistency.

Ummm, I'm confused...:look:.
The ingredients you highlighted in red are fatty alcohols, conditioning agents, and detanglers, all things, I think, that would be good for the hair.

I don't think these ingredients are any thing to fear although maybe you know something about these ingredients or your hair's reaction to them that I don't know. But if you were thinking of rubbing alcohol then yes, rubbing alcohol in hair care products should generally be avoided...

Oh no keep the knowledge coming! I saw the word "alcohol" and the other one looked like an ingredient for a science experiment :ohwell: so I figured it was bad. Thanks for letting me know. The shipping cost for the Silk Dreams is reasonable too.

If you go to the newbie threads you can find an ingredients list and learn about almost all of the ingredients found in most poos and conditioners its very helpful. Hth

I would love to see a "natural dupe" product thread. I want an alternative to LeKair Cholesterol. It's got Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride (which I thought were bad at one point) high on the list but I want to avoid the mineral oil, methyparaben, propylparaben, and tetrasodium edta. If those paraben's aren't so bad (I haven't researched them) I might just deal with the preservative. But if anyone can recommend something comparable to LeKair, please do! :)

Funny your first year sounds exactly like mine. I love ORS replenishing pak, I find that Aubrey organics GPB conditioner is like it (light protein moisturizing conditioner) but much better only thing its a tad bit more expensive at about $9-13. I stretch it with Trader Joes Nourishing spa and a little oil. I don't think your hair would laugh at Aubrey Organic GPB... its a great conditioner.

Hey 20something you might be my hair TWIN! I use the TJ Nourishing Conditioner for my co-washes. Aubrey's was okay. I added the HairVeda Vatika Coconut oil (I love that stuff so much I wish I could eat it!!!!!) to the HSR on dry hair, shampooed, etc. ORS was still better.
