She has great hair and it suits her.

God bless her and the long detangling sessions....I almost want to cut my hair off after an hour of wet fingercombing :nono:

Good Lord, I feel the same way. I like their videos, but man they are long! I have to keep my hair stretched for the most part too or else its tangle and knot city, but that's a bit much - for me. I do like how she demonstrates taking out those hard core tangles, I've could have used that video a month ago. :ohwell:

I cannot yawn (at all) when I see such nice people, I love their kindness and positive attitude, and I appreciate who takes the time to explain things in detail. And they are 2 rare beauties!

I have to say, this video really helps (especially that idea of detangling from the roots and soaking them with oil is new and makes sense to me, because my hair dreads near the scalp).
But if I wanted to keep twists 100% of the time, I would definitely choose locs, something like chescaleigh from youtube but smaller. My understanding is that Cipriana likes small twists and updos 100% of the time, and this idea would eliminate those 8 hours a month detangling, while achieving the same unique look.

150 twists??!!? WTF?? I am looking to have longer hair so i can make BIGGER twists and hopefully spend less time on my hair on wash day. Is that unrealistic?

yeah it takes a long time for her but yall have to remember its ONCE a month she does this and then shes done. im sure it takes people close to the same amount of time if they added up all the minutes/hours it takes to do the hair a few times a week.

:yep:

Especially for someone like me that co-washes almost every day. It takes me 15 minutes (co-wash and styling time) on co-wash days and 60 minutes for weekly washes (not including the time I have the DC on my hair) for a total of 135 minutes a week. Assuming 4 weeks in a month that is 540 minutes a month. An hour longer than her 8 hours.

I still cannot envision sitting down for 8 hours at a stretch. Kudos to her.

I forgot about that, especially since I cowash my hair (or shampoo) twice a week or ever four days due to my work out schedule. I would do it more often actually, but I don't want to do too much to my hair.

I think what she sorta gets wrong is the detangling from the tip thing. You are supposed to start from the bottom and pull it apart going in a downward motion. Detangling from the tip does not mean rip the hair all the way up so you have a bunch of knots at the top- that of course would be counter productive. You start at about 2 in from the bottom and work down, then go 4 in from the bottom and go down, 8 in from the bottom etc...so there are no knots gathering together. Doing it her way could cause knots to clump at the bottom.

I think that really depends on the hair. I couldn't do it. Twists and water cause a lot of tangles for me...I could only imagine loose twists plus water. If you do decide to do something along these line I would only try it with a small section of hair until you know it will work for you.

I could be mistaken, but I thought she said she does it over a few days time.

I like their videos.

I think this video was helpful because I finger detangle. I would like to try dry detangling sometime before shampooing or cowashing..

I don't recall if she said that she saturates the hair with oil, I think she said she just puts some oil on. When I tried Cipriana's method this weekend I put a tiny bit of coconut oil on my hands and separated the hair, starting at the roots, like she said.

It was time consuming. It took me just under 3 hours to do my whole head, but my hair was thoroughly detangled. I removed about 20 shed hairs.

Washing and braiding to dry afterward was a cinch. When I washed my hair I saw one hair slip out in the shower. I'd of been happy with a small clump of shedding.

I don't leave my hair in a style for weeks at a time, but I can see myslef doing detailed finger detangling once a week. It's made styling my hair this week easier.

I noticed way fewer broken hairs than when I use my wide toothed comb. I could feel the tangles immediately. Then I focused on them sliding some of the hairs out until the knot unravelled.

She has such long, beautiful, thick hair. I can't wait 'til I get on her status. :yep::yep:

But I wish their vids weren't so long.....and boring. I would watch their vids, if they fixed that.

More power to her! Personally, I would be all day if I did that therefore I finger detangle in the shower with special help from the water pressure and a slippery conditioner.

There are key components (imo) to not let kinky hair mat up and become difficult to detangle.

@manter26 what you describe is almost how I have always done it (I finger detangle only and I start from the bottom). But what I am missing is the downward motion. That may be the key. If you only separate the strands without that downward motion that you are talking about, then the knots travel towards the scalp (which has happened to me many times, just like Cipriana). That may be why she starts from the scalp, she instinctively uses a downward motion that way. But I am trying now from the bottom and it is definitely possible to do it. Thanks for clarifying that as it does make a difference!
