:grin: Had to share my story... I don't post sooo much anymore - but....

My hair was feeling - YUCK.....:sad: Grad School and a busy life - has put my hair under a HAT most days......:nono: And glitches in my formulation of my trusted conditioner also caused a few problems.

Thirdly - The giant bottle of Mizani Thermasmooth caused quite a bit of buildup and - worse - Giant red Splotches - I guess I am allergic....:nono:

Anyway..... My hair was a mushy - mess. Too much moisture.

Did not want to use something scary, especially MIZANI tried to kill me....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

But - I jumped in... and researched Chicoro's tutorial on Aphogee treatments....

first I Reformulated my Moisture conditioner. Check:yep:

Detangled thoroghly... UGH :ohwell: Had tons of moisture condish on, overnight. If that was bad - oh well, I needed to do so... - and was terrified of a setback

- Shampooed this morning.....in 4 tight braids

Secondly - I poured Aphogee into a Spray bottle ... and sprayed the entire 4 oz on my hair....

Sat under the pibbs... and followed the rest of Chicoro's instructions...

Had the best blow dry - and least amount of hair loss in months. Just fabulous.

My fears are now behind me. and great natural hair ia ahead!!!!!

Glad your hair is back to normal. But you know how we feel about experiences and pictures around here.

You know, I'd been using Aphogee and then stopped because "naturals don't need that strong of a protein...:look:". And my hair did okay, but not great. And then I read Chicoro's book, and I started back with it last year. And it's official, that stuff is the BOMB.COM!!! I have a treatment coming up in two weeks; I can't wait .

Totally true...:yep: I slept on it too long... and tried Eggs, henna and lots of other stuff... So much work - and too much messy crap.....

Aphogee... is my BFF..... Every 3 months or so....

Lucky's Mom can you please direct me to Chicora's instructions? I'm interested in trying this. My hair has been a mess lately. Also, did you use Aphogee 2-Minute or the Reconstructor?

Wow....:nono::nono:

I did not think that my response was rude... But - oh well... I guess you found the information.
I did not have it.... I had it years ago.

I said that in an earlier post...

sounds like when one does 2 searches without checking.... they are LAZY. It's not rocket science.

Once again.. this is why I rarely post here. Peace out folks!

Chicoros instructions.....

Aphogee Results

Aphogee Routine:
1. Detangle your hair completely. You cannot have any tangles.
2. Section detangled hair. Keep it tangle free by putting it into bantu knots or loose braids. Have about 6-10 sections at the most.
3. Wash hair in those sections. (Dilute 1-2 caps of shampoo into about 2-3 cups of warm water. This way the shampoo doesn't get concentrated in one spot in your head or on your hair , you use less shampoo, and you can rinse it out faster.)
4. Apply aphogee. I apply a capful at a time, to each section. I will unloosen the section on which I am working and then pour on the Aphogee. I braid my section back up very loosely and move it out the way.
5.Secure hair so that it does not move. I braid up my sectioned hair and then pull braids up and tie them together at the top of my head, with a nylon stocking.
6. Sit under dryer until Aphogee becomes very hard.
7. Carefully rinse aphogee from hair without moving it. IT WILL BREAK if you are rough or have to comb it out at this point. Be GENTLE. I place my head under the sink and rinse until the product is completely out of my hair. It can take anywhere up to 10-15 minutes. I may not unloosen my hair even at this point. Usually I don't.
8. After the treatment my hair is VERY VERY DRY. YOU MUST DEEP CONDITION YOUR HAIR AFTER THE TREATMENT! (I am not shouting at you. I just want to put the stuff here for emphasis)
9. I usually mix my conditioner, something thick like LeKair or whatever I have with lots of olive oil.
10. I mix in the oil/conditioner mixture into my head by hand. I do not comb my hair at this point.
11. I work in the conditioner on every section of hair. Then I may let it sit for 5 minutes to an hour. I think 5-10 minutes is very good.
12. I comb my hair out section by section, with the conditioner in it.
13. Each section that is combed, I twist out the way or braid again loosely. That is why you don't want to have too many braids. Six to ten is the limit.
14. Then I rinse each section and either move it and tie it up with nylon, adding sections as I rinse and untangle, or just twist or braid up loosely again.
15. Once I get passed this part, I style as usual.

If you don't deep condition afterwards and handle your hair very carefully, you can break your hair. Your hair is at its most vulnerable during and immediately after the Aphogee treatment. Once you get that oily conditioner mix in it, you should be ready to handle the way you are used to handling your hair.

I guess the main difference is that I wash my hair before I do the Aphogee treatment and condition my hair immediately after the Aphogee treatment. If I rinse really well, there is no odor from the product. I also do not wear a shirt or bra or anything. I just throw a towel over my shoulders so as not to get my hair stuck on my clothing. That way, if I want to jump into the shower and rinse my hair, I have that option available, too.

Minimize the handling of the hair after the treatment and only deep condition. Just rinse well. I have my towels and things ready so once I get that stuff out of my head, I can do my process.

You need to wait about 6-8 weeks before you attempt the treatment again.
