What Do You Dry Your Hair With?

To keep lint minimized other loc'ers recommend using a sham wow. I have a white terrycloth towel/turban that I use. I've also used the baby bath towels with no problem.

After my last washing I stretched my locs as they dried by wrapping them with yarn. Worked fine & had no lint. (African braid wrap technique)

YEP! Tshirts work the best for me. I used a regular towel out of the way and snagged a few hairs. I was like nooooo!

i was thinking about getting a turbie twist or two. Anyone use those? is it just a fancy towel?

Plain ol' towel. I usually drape it across shoulders and let my twists drip dry if planning to wear them down. Otherwise I just wrap my head with the towel turban style and let it be. By the time I'm done oiling my body, my hair isn't dripping with water anymore but the towel has absorbed most of it.

I just use a regular old towel to squeeze the water out. Then I drape the towel over my head and go about my business until my hair isn't so wet anymore.

I have heard that t-shirts and microfiber cloths are better for reducing frizz, but I'm too lazy/cheap for all that.

I bought some extra large microfiber cloths from walmart & target.

I knew towels would snag my hair and will mess up an attempted wash & go. And they seem to absorb faster.

I heard you gotta be careful how you wash microfiber and NOT use fabric softener...just washing detergent only.

Towels NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR touch my hair! Towel + my hair = FRIZZ CITY!

I use an old cotton t-shirt.

I used to use an old shirt but it got too wet before my hair stop dripping. So I went back to the towel. I just keep it on long enough to for my hair to stop dripping and then I baggy it (to keep it from completely drying) while getting dressed.

oh... is my hair weird then? i (think) i'm low porosity and i know i'm majority coarse strands because it takes a long time for my hair to wet when water touches (flashback to type-f :lachen:)

anyhoo, it also seems to just... i dunno, it's like the water hides in the crevices or su'm. immediately after a wash all i do is a gentle side-to-side shake and a bit of product and i'm done. i never have to actually dry my hair. if you dig into the centre my hair will be wet (and stay that way if not left down) but otherwise nada.

am i the only one like this? :look:

Hi, My Friend (I like saying your name), I use a t-shirt. They are the best for absorbing water and keeping hair smooth :)

If you're low porosity and the water is getting in, then thats a good thing. Sometimes the low-po women have a hard time getting water to penetrate. Does your hair have "beads" of water on it and look dry after you wash; or does it get wet and look wet?

I was on the other side of the spectrum w/high porosity. My hair never seemed to get "wet", so I didn't have to dry much-- water would go in, and right out. It looked dry even sopping wet. This is interesting to hear from an low porosity person.

I usually use a t-shirt, because I heard towels cause frizz. However on the rare occasion that I do a WNG, I just shake my head to get some of the excess water out. Yea, like a wet dog.

I either use a turbie twist, t-shirt or paper towels... whichever is closest to me when I get out of the shower. :)

a regular towel. I just don't vigorously rub my hair together as I am drying it, I just blot and hold the towel in place and let it soak up the moisture on its own with no effort on my part.

Microfiber towel for me (bought it in the auto section at Walmart)...but I think I want to try that there tee shirt method.:scratchch
