If you are natural and you keep your hair professionally shaped up, what's the method that your stylist uses to cut your hair?

I tend to get my hair shaped once a year. I straighten it before I go. She gave me face framing layers in the front and kept it one length in the back.

I don't. I'm one year past my BC and I just let it grow. My trimming is just taking off the split/ dead ends. And I don't straighten.

The one shape up I got it was after 4 years of being natural and by then it was already hanging sort of like I wanted. I really want the face framing layers also when my hair grows out more. I think it's super cute.

I've been relaxed for 2 years with a bob for one, so I'm just checking in to see if there are some techniques that I need to brush up on, especially since I refused to have my hair shaped the first time around. I do think that's why I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have once it got hella long.

ETA: I beginning to think that straightening (or blowing it out) is really the best way to get it shaped up.

My second bc was in the shape of a bob and I enjoyed that grow out phase alot more than the first :yep:. I really didn't have to get it reshaped until nearly two years later. I think of a good haircut as a "foundation" of sorts.

I only shape up my afro every now and then (like once every two years) since I always where protective styles, but believe it or not I never go to a salon (they will mess my hair up). The absolute best place to at least get your afro shaped up is the BARBERSHOP. My husband's shop, although loud and a little uncomfortable, has barbers that actuallyLISTEN and know the difference between a CUT and a TRIM. They will fix you up nicely and they take great pride in their work.

I got my hair cut and shaped at the end of October. She did it on blowdried hair in a sort of layered bob.

That's what I'm talking about. I know what it's like to grow long natural hair so I over that (not knocking anyone who has this goal). I'm now all about the sexy...lol. That's exactly what I want ultimately, a cute curly bob.

Yes! I was wondering this recently, since I watch all these Youtubers and it seems that so few get their fros shaped. I'm waiting until February/March when I'm 18 months post-relaxer to get mine shaped in a salon that specializes in curly hair (i.e. Devacut) and then I may do cuts to refresh my shape each year. I'm glad I'm not the only one whose willing to sacrifice a bit of length for a cute cut.
