Avocado and Sunflower Butter make me weep with joy.
I also like mango, but it's a little heavy for my hair, so I use it sparingly.

my fave is shea butter either alone or mixed with my fave oils.

if you mean pre mixed then i love AV shea amla butter cream.

Thank you, ladies, for all of your responses. I really had no idea there were so many types of butters. Now to pick one to try... I need a staple.

My hair only likes butters/creams whipped with water or oils:

Qhemet Amla & Olive Heavy Cream (oil based cream)
Oyin Handmade Whipped Pudding (shea cocoa butter based cream)
Oyin Handmade Whipped Shea (shea and oil based butter)

Thanks for this thread!

Ladies, can you also post how these butters smell?
I would love to stick with Shea and Cocoa but I don't really care for the nutty smell of Shea.
TIA!

Yeah, why y'all sistahs been holding out on the butters? I'm just finding out that my hair loves shea butter. I'm gonna try avocado butter too. :lick:

Melt the shea butter, add a few drops of your favorite perfume or oil to change the smell.

Thanks! That's what I've been doing but the shea smell seems to overpower. I've been using lavender and grapefruit mainly. I've even tried to add coconut oil to mix. Maybe some aloe, in addition to the EOs, will help to dilute the nutty scent..

Thanks again.

If it is pure African shea butter, please add PERFUME or scented oil ... you only need a few drops. I learned this from a couple who imported raw shea butter from Ghana. Try it on a small sample

My year round butter-(Avocado)Nice & soft..leaves my hair feeling very moisturizing with-out heavy build up....

Heavy duty winter butter for the 20 degree below weather-My honey child (Soy Butter),hair doesn't break or shed & still remains soft to the touch...

HairVeda-Green tea butter-I like it for the fall/when the season starts to change..Because,my hair has a lot going on trying to adjust to the different fall temperatures..This butter helps helps with the weather change...A little goes a long way & I can apply it on my skin as well..

Njois-creations-Butters..I really like them during the summer & spring..Gives a nice change...

Christine Gant-Butter,I use it when I need a little change..

Bee Mine Luscious- A great addition for winter/summer braid-outs & twists...

QB- Burdock root/I apply it to my scalp (only) after my wash & dc in the winter..Keeps my scalp from being flaky & dry...

Darcy's Botanicals Madagascar Styling Creme.....Thick and creamy, smells like Vanilla. Great for locking in Moisture!

This morning I used some brazil nut butter that I had laying around as a sealant and Man o' Man this stuff is good , it's soft, non-greasy and my hair still feels moisturized...love this stuff!

I use a mix that I made. It's shea butter, olive oil, sunflower oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil and a drop of honey and whipped it together. It is so light and fluffy. I love it.

I also use vatika frosting by hairveda. My hair loves it and I love the smell.:lick:

to add on to this i also love:
bee mine luscious moisturizer(which is more of a cream)
qhemet cocoa detangling ghee(more of a cream)
curl junkie honey butta(:lick: for the summer, havent tried it during the winter yet but it has honey and glycerin high on the list so might not be good outside of summer)

Has anyone had any experience with hemp seed butter? I am wanting to try this one.

I have in a product called Siamese Twists (Etsy), Essential Hair Cream - oil/butter based. Hemp seed butter is the first ingredient. My hair loved it to death. Though it has glycerin, it was far down the list and didn't affect my hair at all. The ceramides in the hemp seed butter was great for my hair and it made my hair super soft.

I hated the smell of the product though.

Just got my Pura Body Naturals Cupuacu Hair Butter in the mail yesterday (BF purchase). The cupuacu butter is super cream and melts easily. Though its a butter, it can almost be used as an oil if you melt it in your hands, which only takes a couple of seconds.

This was just a few seconds on the hand and its already melting.

I love avocado butter and capuacu butter. Tucuma butter is quite nice too =) I love it on my hair.

I also like QB's Burdockroot Butter and SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie. They're just heavenly.

what properties do Capuacu butter and Tucuma butter have? are they good with 4b natural hair? anyone?

I never used Tucuma, but capuacu is very creamy and melts easily. I've used it both in mixed formulas and solo. Good for all hair types IMO.
