Thinning Hair...loss of volume

Op, nooooo!!! No need to cut your hair off that severly unless your hair is severly damaged or you desire to cut your hair. Your hair is beautiful, what are you talking about??

1- Hmmm.. There are a few reasons why hair can begin to thin.. Stress, hormones, age, genetics, some folks have thicker hair strands than others, medicine..

2- Regimens that can cause thinning, too much heat, relaxers such as over processing, hair coloring, excessive blow drying on high heat..

You clearly know how Tom grow your hair, but something else is going on you may not be aware of with the first list of issues or in the second list?

I would say no. If there is a reason your hair is thinning then you need to figure out what it is and resolve it. Cutting if off and starting over will not cause a thinning hair to correct itself. You will just have thin short hair.

There are plenty of threads where people talk about their issue with thinning hair. Previous recommendations
1. See a dermatologist to get checked for any conditions
2. Scalp massages
3. Different natural treatments: oil blends, castor oil, etc

My crown was thinning just due to hormones and excessive heat from the hair dryer and the combo of relaxers. An oil blend with weekly scalp massages has helped to correct that.

Do some research through the forum and you will find a lot of tips.

My hair is very healthy. It just started to shed a lot in the last few months and I think it's hormonal as my periods are messed up too. I have an appointment with my gynocologist to do a hormone test but my hair just seems to have lost some of its volume since the shedding began. I'd like not to have to cut it but I guess I'll see how bad it is when it's time to relax again (end of the year).

I don't use any heat and relax every four months. I guess I just need to stop the shedding and hopefully I will regain the thickness. My hair has never been really thick but it just seems thinner now.

I have started to incorporate tea rinses and with the second wash, the shedding was better, so we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the replies, and no, there isn't any breakage (that I can see) and it's not thin at the end or the top. It just seems like the volume/density of hair is less (or appears thinner) than usual.

Maybe you can try garlic (externally and internally) to curb the shedding?

Be careful with garlic.... it thins the blood. First the doctor... then if everything is ok. I am sure we can dig up all of the hair thinning threads/solutions.
