Im doing some research now. I have a hunk of it and I need to clarify. I will try it and do a braid out and come back to review.

I'm using it now for breakout. I would have to say that it has made my face smooth. Still working on the blemishes that I have. Overall, this is good soap.

I use it and love it, but the key is that there are different kinds of African Black Soap that all have different effects. I tried one from Ghana and didn't like it, but then tried one from Togo and I loved it.

I ordered some from that coastal scents site I think it's called. It's the real black soap not that dudu osan stuff... I've used it on my face... It dried it out even after I used shea butter as my moisturizer BUT I do have sensitive skin on my face. Now for my body I love it. I step out feeling clean but not ashy and dried out. I've also used it on my hair... I'd probably never use it on my hair again but as I always say I have oily / sensitive scalp and it just made a mess with build up. So overall only thing it benefits me as is a body wash. I use it and then slide on my regular equate lotion similar to lubriderm and then top it off with shea butter MANNNNNNNNNN I had bad sd (kinda like eczema) on my back and it totally toned it down.

Yes I've bought 10lbs of the stuff last time Its fantastic stuff, however, you can't just put this stuff in the shower and leave it there because it will get rather gooey on you. Must keep dry between use.

I order soap from them in the large cakes, I think you can now get 5lb cakes at a time.

I have also ordered shea butter and red palm oil from them in the past.

I was using some I bought from African vendors and I broke out in a burning itchy rash that made my face swell up and flake from dryness. My face was jacked up for a week. I'm using the Shea Moisture African Black Soap bar now and it's not really doing anything. The ingredients look good but since it's in bar form and is really black in color I'm not sure if it is the real deal.

Yes. They have great black soap!! One of the best out of the 4 I've tried.

I used it as a facial wash - it was quite dry for my face though.

So what I did was dissolve it in water and mixed it with a few E.O's, witch hazel and a little bit of glycerin and it worked wonders for my face. I just got too lazy to make it again when it finished.

I use it for my face, it is drying somewhat so I use raw cocoa butter as my moisturizer I am still waiting to see if it's worth it lol I am still getting breakouts I want to try to make a shampoo of it but I have no clue how to or what to put it in.

I personally can't use coco butter on my face period...break out city!! You could be using too much, or it just isn't the thing that will work for you. You do have to use a moisturizer with the soap without a doubt as it can be quite drying. Maybe if you tried a very light oil like grape or sunflower, and you shouldn't have to use very much at all (like a drop or 2) there's also Emu oil which I tend to like better but can be somewhat expensive. Another alternative is Thayer's Alcohol Free Witch Hazel.

I used it on my face but I was disappointed to see that it does stain your counters and towels a bit. It comes off the towels in the wash. On the counters I found that I would have to scrub a bit if the soap dried.

I was going to make a thread about black soap b/c I think it's my new staple. I purchased this brand from a local co-op. At first I was just using it on my face in an attempt to get my adult acne under control.

I had been using the Terresentials Mud Wash for cleansing my hair & scalp but I'm in tree braids & was afraid that I wouldn't be able to wash all of the mud out of my braids. I was trying to figure out a good non-poo alternative for cleansing my hair/scalp. One day I put a capful of this liquid black soap (a little goes a long way) in an applicator bottle that had some leftover AV/glycerine/water in it. I filled the rest with water & applied it to my scalp & my nape that's not braided.

My hair felt like butter. I didn't put anything on it & still a day later my hair was soft to the touch. I used it again tonight & the same results. I was out of glycerine so this time I did 1 oz of AV, a capful of black soap & 5 oz of water. It was more than enough. I still have like half left.

Oh, as for my face - I have really oily skin so it doesn't dry me out at all. It has really helped clear my skin up.

Used Nubian Heritage African Black Soap.

Smells wonderful. Very moisturizing for face and body but I don't need it.

It was nice on my natural hair but highly alkaline and needed a good acidic rinse after.

I would definitely purchase again for my body, I prefer pure honey for my face and clays to cleanse my hair.

For the face, body and acne especially: It's great.. Can't be beat/

For the Hair: Really really bad... Way too alkaline. PH of that thing must be 20.. lol.. If your hair is really coated in oil, and you use it, it may not harm you as much... but if you use it on normal week old dirty hair to clarify.... You'll spend the whole day at Ulta buying something to fix the mess... My cuticles were so lifted (i have low porosity btw), that my hair like sand paper to the touch...

judy4all Would you take a look at the one I posted & see what you think, please? I've been using it on my nape (I'm in braids) & my hair feels like butter every time. I do dilute it with AV & water, though & I'm only using a very small amount. I need to find my ph strips & test my mix. Thanks for the heads up.

@nakialovesshoes I just saw the brand you use. Looks like basic black soap liquified to me. It will definitely do your scalp some good... and your braids are protecting your cuticles hence why you don't feel the effect on your hair... I've actually achieved butter softness using it before, but my hair was pre-poo'd in a lot of oil so it couldn't really get in. I suggest that if it's working for you now, in braids, then you should keep using it. But except you are really adventurous, I'll skip using it on loose hair. The PH of black soap should be at least 10 - 12, and I don't think AVJ can bring it down much ... water will have almost no effect on its PH. It took me lots of visits and returns to Ulta and 2 weeks of DC'ing to fix it. As a backup, stock up on a cheap moisturizing conditioner e.g Garnier Fructis triple moisture ... Ingredients are nice and it won't mess with the effects of the mud wash... If you have any black soap mishaps.. just keep co-washing with it, until your hair returns back to normal. Until then (hopefully nothing bad ever happens... lol)... Enjoy!!
