I had a dream last night that i accidentally relaxed my hair. it was cute and healthy but i was sooooo upset! i was just trying to deep condition and it turned out to be a relaxer in the container

Has this happened to anyone else?

i can't be the only one lol

I did have that dream one night and it was so weird. The specifics of the dream are a little hazy to me now but I just remember feeling confused in the dream about how I ended up with a relaxer.

I must add that I am graduating in a couple of months and it never fails when I am stressed about something I have crazy dreams. So I am sure that I will have more to report in the coming months.

Yup! It's one of the "phases of nappturality" I had it at the beginning of my journey. Felt like my heart was gonna burst right outta my chest! I could SMELL the relaxer in my dream, I swear I could feel the burn even before it was slathered onto my head and I woke up in a cold sweat. SERIOUSLY.

:lachen:

No, I have not. However I do remember someone else started a thread a week ago mentioning a similar dream. So you are not alone.

Never....my nightmares are far more traumatic and taunting and depressing. I wish my nightmares were something about hair I would love to trade :(.

There have been plenty of threads on this "nightmare". Like I posted before in one of those threads, glad you are still natural.......

Thank you for the hug lol. I think it has a lot to do about taking MSM later in the day :perplexed. I read recently they cause vivid dreams.

Funny you should mention that because the first thing I thought wasn I wonder if she is taking any supplements. My friend takes Melatonin as a natural sleep aid but had to stop because of the vivid dreams.

alive: Thanks!!

YES! I still have it periodically, its always someone else doing it to my head unbeknownst to me, or somebody forcing me somehow, and I come out of a shampoo bowl and my hair has that limp, freshly permed feeling that I dislike immensely. I can smell that metallic chemical smell in the dream too.

Man. I have had so many bad stylist experiences stemming from such a young age I really am scarred for life. It seems equally as traumatic as any other nightmare, but you have to laugh at yourself when you become fully alert.
Its amazing how certain things affect your subconscious. The fact that the dream has been recurring over many years(and has happened to so many people!) is just wild.

Thats the thing about it though, I have some other recurring nightmares that involve violence, or bad things happening to family members, for example...and its like the adrenaline or some type of receptors send the SAME signals to the brain that make me feel just as traumatized, heart-racing, sweating, I may be weeping in the dream and/or feeling emotional lows that I dont generally feel when awake....its crazy....

I think mine is tied to some type of feelings of helplessness/inability to *not* be in control as well, I have thought about this stuff long and hard!

LongLeggedLife AMEN @ the bolded! i remember having little white bumps around my hairline and severe headaches from a stylist pulling my cornrows too tight when i was younger. learning to do my own hair wasn't just a matter of convenience, it was a matter of maintaining my sanity

I always have nightmares about my hair suddenly being short, damaged and relaxed when I am in braids and I am about to take them out.

Yes! The night after I saw "Good Hair" in the movie theater, I dreamed I'd gotten a relaxer. I woke up in tears
Just the other night I dreamed that I relaxed just the front part of my hair. I don't know why.

you've just given me one more reason not to see that movie

Yes. Ditto to Pookaloo83, I found myself waking up feeling my hair. In my dream my hair was pretty and I just couldn't believe I relaxed it. I was mad at myself for doing it too. Thankfully, it was a dream. Phew!

Well I've dreamt that I looked in the mirror and my hair was relaxed. That ish was SWANGIN'. I love my natural hair, but to dream that I had a relaxer....I wouldn't call it a nightmare. To me it wud be a nightmare if it was broken, dry as a biscuit, stringy, broken off relaxed hair.

To each his own I guess.
