What's the perfect protein for you hair and what is your hair type?

I am fine thin hair.

Duo Tex Protein condition
Aubrey GPB

My hair is 4a/b, texlaxed, & thick

I use apogee two step a week before relaxers (every 16 weeks)... And raw eggs & Aphogee pro-vitamin leave-in in the interim.

I'm not sure if they are the perfect proteins... But they work really well & I'm too scared to experiment with different ones.

I use Duo Tex weekly. I have yet to follow it up with a moisturizing conditioner, btw. I just use moisturizing leave-ins. No breakage thus far. I've actually kept using Duo Tex since I first started. It's a staple.

I used Aphogee 2-step about a month ago too. I like it, but it's messy as hell. I'll stick with it every 8 weeks.

Fine hair, medium density, 4b. Approximately 7inches

Mane and tail original conditioner, aphogee 2min reconstructor, AO GPB. I prefer to use light to medium protein treatments regularly than a one off hard core treatment :afro:

I have 4a/b fine hair with high porosity and medium density.

I have 3C/4A fine hair and have my own protein conditioner mix. It would probably be classified as a medium-heavy protein but includes a protein conditioner, reconstructor, and Aphogee 2-step used as a deep conditioner. I don't let it dry and get sticky on my hair but condition with heat under a plastic cap and then rinse. I used to henna but this has completely replaced the need for henna. I use this every two weeks or once a month if in a month-long PS.

Sounds crazy but its been WORKING WONDERFULLY for me. Still kind of in the testing phase though (I've been using for 4 months).

I have fine to medium, dense 4b hair.

I've been using Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor weekly for the past year, and it's been a great balance to my moisture regimen. I normally apply it immediately after I use a clarifying conditioner, and I leave it on with a shower cap for about 5 minutes. If for some reason I feel that my hair needs a bit more protein that week, I just leave it on for a little while longer. It's definitely helped with my retention.

Dont kno my hair type buttttt EGG + mayo followed by a moisturizing condish is my best protein treatment!

Dont know my hair type but I am relaxed with dense medium-thick strands and the only protein I use regularly is Aphogee 2 Min. It does a good job and I still have a little breakage here and there but I am not about to go create a problem trying to get rid of it completely by using something stronger. I tried the Milk & Honey protein treatment by Sof N Free and that was ammmmazing. Its pretty strong and yet gentle. It makes your eyes sting and it tingles your nose but my breakage was nonexistent afterwards. It just doesnt come in a bottle yet. :/

Natural, primarily 4a, medium density, medium thickness/coarseness, APL stretched. I use aphogee 2-step every 13 weeks (4x/year), AO GPB at the 3 week mark, mega-tek at the 6 week mark, and AO GPB again at 9 weeks. This keeps my hair in the best condition. If, in the meantime, I feel that my hair needs a dose of protein, I use aphogee pro-vitamin leave-in followed by a moisturizing leave-in on top.

Hey girl, I'm a fine-haired lady too. And the perfect protein for me is all natural things e.g oils, conditioner, honey, mayo, eggs. I'm going to save up and try Aubrey GPB.

Shescentit's Okra reconstructor. Chock full of protein and ceramides and mild enough to be used weekly. This stuff makes my fine strands feel amazing both wet and dry. The improvement is really remarkable. I prefer using a mild protein weekly rather than messing with the hard stuff.

Fine hair, mostly 4a:

Nexxus Emergencee (Recnstructor)
Nexxus Pro-Mend Conditioner (light protein)
UBH Conditioner (meduim protein)
Megatek (heavy protein)
Giovanni Direct Leave In (light protein)
Chi Keratin Mist

homemade with ingredients like yogurt or lecithin
type 4b+ natural, thick strands

I also use henna.

nagawa what leave ins do you use.

gn1g,

I use Alba Botanica leave-in (yellow bottle, red cap) or Kinky Curly Knot Today. After applying that, I layer/seal with Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

I will say that I probably will DC this weekend. I'm semi-conscious of the fact that I'm breaking LHCF law by not doing a moisturizing DC so I'm getting a bit paranoid about my hair . It just really benefits from the protein. It's fantastic!

My hair has been holding up really well.

My answers are bolded.

Fine, thin, nappy. My hair does best with constant doses of light proteins. The heaviest protein treatment I use would involve an egg! Generally I get my protein treatments from yogurt, coconut milk or mayo.

Depends on timing: 4ab relaxed coloured highlighted BKT

Aphogee two step every 8-10 weeks
Mega tek weekly
Redken anti-snap as needed -maybe twice a month
Infusium as needed- maybe twice a month

I prepoo wash and condition once a week and moisturise with Giovanni direct leave-in every other day sealed with any oil.

Aphogee 2 step treatment works well for me. I'm also loving MTek....it makes me strands stronger. Been using MTek for the past 2years now
